Jefferson/Favors swap??

Post#1 » by TwinTimberVikes » Wed Jun 30, 2010 7:03 pm

"The New Jersey Nets are said to be exploring some trade options that could land a veteran PF in Jersey. One source with knowledge of the situation said they might even be willing to deal promising big man Derrick Favors for the right veteran, as Favors is likely a year or two away from being an impact player, whereas a player like Al Jefferson or Carlos Boozer would make the Nets a potential playoff team immediately." - Bill Ingram from Hoopsworld http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=16657

Yeah I don't think it will happen either. I don't even know how credible hoopsworld or Ingram even is, but I thought i'd just throw it up.

We'd have to take garbage back, at the very least. If they strike out on the tops guys, they might consider something like Jefferson for Favors + Humphries + Ross.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

I believe their first option is Amare, so if they get him they won't need Favors/Amare/Lopez but I wonder what it'd take to get him.

I think between Bosh, Stoudemire, Boozer, Lee and Nowitski, they should be able to sign a FA PF and keep Favors. At one point I thought we might be able to get Favors by moving Flynn and taking on Yi, Humphries, etc., so NJ can clear room for two max guys, but with the Yi trade to Washington I don't see NJ moving Favors unless it's for Melo type talent.

Wesley Johnson possibly. Of course Rudy Gay is still an option.

If we could get Gay, do we offer Wes Johnson for Favors? That seems contridictory to me, unless we see Favors as our number 1 option down the line.

Furthermore, How does:

Harris/
Lee/
Williams/Damien James
Big Al/
Lopez

equal playoff team? Maybe, but that team has some serious injury concerns. Also, a 12 win team isn't a Big Al away from the playoffs. Maybe with a guy like Gay they'd push the lower seeds, but I'm still doubting it.

Really do not see this happening for NJ. More likely they will get Boozer, Lee or Amare and then perhaps Gay to fill the SF position if they strike out (which they most likely will) with Lebron and Bosh. Not a contender or anything but with this lineup the Nets would have a legit chance at the playoffs in a weak eastern conference.

Harris
Lee
Gay
Boozer/Amare or Lee
Lopez

I don't see it happening either. Would be great though.
