Feel free to quote some of what I wrote over there here. I am laughing as I type. I mean it was sad when they were giving us the OH YEAH approach as Kidd and the boys were destroying them in 2001. To still be clinging to Willis Reed's time as an example of their historic greatness in 2010? I mean...its just down right pathetic now.

How do they not know just how putrid they have become? Seriously...biggest disgrace of a frnachise in all of sports since the Ewing years.

I like how you make a bunch of points with some clever trash talking and you get responses like, "This guy can't even quote right..... like a punch in the nose...your own nose!", "New Jersey Nets = The Water on top of the Yogurt"(I'll admit, I chuckled at that one.), "2 > 0", Lol.
It's picking up though, there were a couple good responses on page 7.

I especially liked these two from both sides:

Still 2 rings to 0.....

Out of curiosity..were you even alive for that? Since Lebron wasnt...maybe you can explain to him what happened to your team in the years to follow....and walk him through those golden years.

While you are at it...perhaps you can recount the War, bell bottoms and your VW bus.

stuporman wrote:When Lebron walks into the Garden he sees NBA banners hanging up there.... He's heard the deafening roar of the crowd when he's played there. When he goes to NJ he hears crickets chirp and the two guys in the 18th row fighting over who has to stop drinking early so they don't have to be the designated driver.

At least the Knicks have golden years...

I liked....

and isn't it ironic that jay z tried to buy into the knicks and got rebuffed and the russian tried to buy the knicks first and got rebuffed and settled for the nets. why because they know the knicks are still the basketball team for New York..

Enetric wrote:
That isnt an example of ironic. Ironic would be...hey look...the guy who tried to buy the Knicks and save a once great franchise from one of the dumbest owners in all of sports couldnt get him to sell so instead he bought the team accross town, stole the free agents they were targeting, their fans came over in droves, and its the NETS who became the next big thing.

Just saying...if he does what he is trying to do...THAT would be an actual example of something that is ironic.

Say what you want, but if the Nets get Lebron, or even just get really good and the Knicks continue to struggle there's going to be a ton of Knicks to Nets fan converts bandwagoning it up again, just like during the Jason Kidd era.

yes, during the jason kidd era- when they went to the finals and still couldn't sell out games.Dude, the Brooklyn Nets will be the equivalence of the New York Mets (and this is coming from a Mets fan)

Well, if the Knicks can becomes the Yankees I am sure that is absolutely true.

But...9 consecutive years without a winning record, 11 years without a playoff win, and 40 years without a title....should the Nets get Lebron and the Knicks are sitting with 4 contracts, a hot mess for draft picks the next few years and trying to beg Joe Johnson to take you cap space...would you at least consider the possibility that those videos of Willis coming out of the tunnel, and Ewing's high top fade are going to be harder and harder to sell as Jeter like?

I heard it is in one of the top marketing spots in all of the city and it just so happens that it overlooks the Knicks corporate offices. Everytime they look out their window they will be staring at Prok and Jay-Z. I wonder if they left room to add Lebron's face.

Remember that every team board's moderators are a bit different in what they allow. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND all Nets regulars stay off the Knicks board in regards to all Nets topics there.

I actually find the billboard along with that Knicks thread pretty hilarious. I swear Knicks fans think their franchise is on the level of the Lakers or something, when they're probably more comparable to the clippers. Talking to us about relevancy...

Since Ewing left, the mystique has been dying in my opinion. Maybe that is a biased comment from me though. Bottom line, which is disheartening to Knicks fans: The top tier when it comes to NBA Franchises only has 2 teams: Lakers and Celtics. Tier 2, though extremely close to that is Chicago and New York, however, the Knicks have had good years but have been declining in this respect for years...even during the Ewing era. This is a bitter pill for Knicks fans to swallow. Outside of the tri-state area the Knicks have no pull anymore whatsoever. Yes, Lebron coming there could change that, but whatever team Lebron goes to will immediately get relevancy so the point is really moot in that respect.

I had this discussion with my uncle the other week because he's a homer Knicks fan from the old days. I brought up their lack of ability to pull in a big time free agent. They have such a short term memory that they blame Isiah for all their woes. Yes, he messed the team up (his remifications still will haunt the team for a few years with their draft picks), but that team has been knee deep in mediocrity since Ewing left and that was way before Isiah. Again, Lebron would make their relevancy rise again, but unless he wins 3-4 championships soon, he'll never bring them up to the relevancy of the Celtics or Lakers on a national level.

The amazing thing is that people still go to games. They get decent crowds despite the fact that they have been such a joke for so long. You really can see the power of NY. People there love basketball and I guess they have no choice but to watch the Knicks, until now.

If we can win a Championship before the Knicks we will really be able to make so noise in Brooklyn. If they win won first we will have a much harder time recruiting fans. People want to be associated with winner so we need to deliver.

 Just read though the pages. What a waste of time going over there, E keeps hitting them from every angle and all they can do is drop one liners about how we won 12 games.Oh yea and our attendance lol.

Honestly though, next season when we're winning games @ THE ROCK! in front of sold out crowds, what the hell will they come up with then????

OH i forgot 2-0 from 40 years ago lol

My feeling is...this team is going to try to create another 8-9 mil in cap space or to to do a sign and trade as part of a move to land two top tier free agents.

Options for contracts that go away....

Devin Harris

Or all of this....
Yi
Humphries
Plus one of CDR or the 27th pick

I think ideally, we would have landed Wall, and resolved the PG spot for many years to come making it easier to deal Harris for future picks...perhaps get a quality role guy making less cash in a package deal...move out someone else...like Humphries as well.

With Wall not there, the less desireable move...give up Yi becomes more in play. I do think Yi fits in with marketing plans more than Devin but, given a choice from a fan stand point? While I am not a huge Devin fan and I really like Yi...Devin derstroys Yi as a player. It makes it an easier decision for me to see him be shipped out for future picks.

Other than us getting something for Yi...Looks like this Enetric guy had it dead on, huh? He is sooooo hot right now. (Suck it Hansel wherever you are...lol)

:o I have to admit E, you hit the nail right on the head.

Honestly? That felt GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD. I didnt plan on it...I was just there to support VCP and the other guys like Soup because the link was posted.

But I think I was careful not to get personal wasnt I? I took the cheap shots...and kept it funny...and honest. Anything I said was a direct reply.

As for the thin ice? what can I say? I'm a god damn figure skater baby!!! But, yes JJ is right....I dont want anyone copying what I did. It could easily get out of hand and I would feel bad to see anyone get banned for blowing off steam. I did break my own cardinal rule. STAY OFF THE NIX BOARD....its filled with fools and misfits.

Thread is locked now...but enjoy the fun read my friends, you all deserve it. We are doing eveything right...no matter how this all ends this week. Rod Thorn is a god damn genius. And you know what? I have a very good felling....and I think they do too.

Just an FYI to everyone...whether you want to call it a double standard or not...you have to realize what you will be able talk about on the Nets forum or your home team's board, specifically the manner...whether blowing off steam, beating down a perspective or mixing it up with fans...YOU WILL NOT and have NO CHANCE of doing the same on another team's forum...

This was a rare occaision, where I didnt see all that much besides some jabs from Nets fan DEFENDING our team...but all of you danced on the line of a suspension...I really felt the humor overall in that thread, as well as it being the summer of Lebron overides a lot of the verbatim...remember, its always going to be one sided with our friends across the river... you have no chance of anyone accepting or even acknowleding your statements and perspectives as valid or equal...its a lose lose situation...

And i'm a soccer fan first.
