What is going to happen to A-Rod?

What do you think they are going to do with A Rod? He can't be content with sitting on the bench for the 4th year in a row. Even if he is fine with being on the bench we could get potentially get a lot for him. I would think he would have a higher value or at least the same as Schaub did last year. He got a swap of first-round choices in 2007 and second-round picks in the 2007 and 2008 drafts. That is a major haul.

What do you guys think?

Everyone knows I'm a Rodgers fan, but even I'd be open to offers for him if Brett decides to return.

I honestly have no idea what he'd fetch.

He's still very young, has three years of learning behind him and he looked outstanding the last two preseasons and in the time he had against Dallas. I think he's worth at least what the Texans gave up for Schaub.

I've been wondering the same thing, i know if i was him i'd ask to be traded.

I am torn a bit on Favre coming back if it meant losing Rodgers.

I'd like Favre to come back, but with an understanding with McCarthy that there may be situations where A-Rod will play in relief next year.

I realize that may be asking for a lot, but it makes a ton of sense. Given the extreme conditions of the Bears and Giants games, in retrospect, it woudn't have hurt for McCarthy to do the unthinkable and give A-Rod a series in there to allow Brett to "warm-up".

Hard to tell what will happen. Hass wanted out and has done well. Nall not so well. Brooks not so well. Detmer not so well. Pederson, not so well. A couple of these guys came back and fizzling as a starter. I'd hold onto ARod. At least he has potential. Otherwise we'll be picking up a FA or journeyman.

I definitely would not trade him. Finding a young QB with the equivalent upside that Rodgers has shown in the last two seasons would not be an easy thing to do.

Even if Favre comes back this year, AR is under contract for the next season.

I also can't see Rodgers holding out. What leverage does he have? Has a backup QB ever held out to force a trade?

I like Rodgers and think we should keep him.

That said I think his value would be less that Matt Schaub. Schaub had far more opportunities to play because of Vick's injuries. He also did not have the same track record of injuries as Rodgers.

In comparing the two situations, look what happened to the Falcons' QB situation after giving up Schaub. They could not control what happened w/ Vick, but they made what I felt were two good moves bringing in Harrington & Leftwich and that got them nowhere. I would feel much better retaining Rodgers; a QB that has been w/ the team for 3 full seasons and has closely watched a future hall of famer, than gamble in a FA or rookie QB.

If we can get a first and third for him or any two combinations of draft picks I would ship him out. Otherwise he has looked to improve greatly since his rookie year. I was sold on him when he came in the Dallas game. I think he has to get a better deep ball but otherwise I think he can play QB in the NFL for good number of years and be a Top 15 QB

IF coaches really like him - then keep him. No brainer. Good young QBs with a couple years practice are valuable.

However IF some team offers a over the top deal like a 1st that is a TOP 10 pick and more - then maybe. We need quality = high 1st - not a bunch of picks like a late 1st & 3rd.

IF he is restless - we have lots of cap space - give him a bump to show appreciatin for him waiting.

I've thought of that because Rodgers i believe has incentives built into his contract that he obviously can't reach hold a clip board.

I do think if Rodgers knew for sure that next year would be Favre's last season, he'd be able to stomach more sitting on the sidelines for another season. If i was him though, i'd be thinking, what if Brett plays well again next year and wants to come back the following season?

I'm hoping the Packers don't trade him for anything less than a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rounder unless the 1st rounder was a top 10 pick.

KEEP HIM! He will only be 25 after next season, and if next season is Favre's last, he will be 26 going into his first year as starter.

I think this is a great way to get him ready to take the reigns. It took Eli 4 years to do anything worth a damn. I think Rodgers would be ready to lead a competitive team after 4 years waiting in the wings and learning from the best.

This pretty much sums up my thoughts. It would be only human for Rodgers to become a little frustrated sitting on the bench another year, but I don't see him making it a big issue out of it and holding out. As far as another team trading a 1st and 3rd or something like that-I don't see that happening. With the exception of a good effort in the Dallas game he hasn't proved anything. You might get a 2nd and a 4th or something like it, but why make the trade after you have done all the prep work with him to fit your system? I think he sits one more year as Favre's understudy.
