Al Jeff trade rumor (3-way, Miami and Tor)

Post#1 » by revprodeji » Wed Jun 30, 2010 11:06 pm

I am not sure the legs on it, but Doogie is speaking about it and I am asking around.

Al Jefferson to toronto

Bosh to Miami

Beasley and Trade Exception to MN.

**Just a rumor, but I am not sure I like it. To be fair it fits with what I was telling us--framework style. Cap flexibility and a swing prospect.

this both sickens me and gets me excited. Beasley could be that guy who can get buckets at will that we need after Jefferson is gone, but helping create the new Miami monster a few seasons after we did it for Boston kinda sucks

**i'm going to just ignore any attitude/drug/alcohol/intelligence issues Beasley has for now, thats way to depressing**

Bosh will find a way to go to Miami no matter what. So I do not worry about it.

Beasley is a high risk/high reward pick. I was never a big fan of him pre-draft, but I understand the need to take risk. He is defensively very weak and without a position. He might only be a bench 3/4 on a legit team but he would be the type of risk we need to take. Makes you wonder what happens if we focus an offense around him.

The TE would be interesting. Roughly 8 million in cap difference instantly.

So Kahn was (reportedly) unwilling to give up Gomes, a player he was looking to cut, for Beasley, then turns around and trades Al Jefferson for him. Blech.
"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''

What else is coming our way? Supposedly Kahn turned down Gomes for Beasley, and the Nets turned him down as well.

I thought we had put an increased emphasis on size and defense. Beasley doens't fit that, so maybe I was wrong. I don't really understand Jefferson for Beasley unless we need the cap space for some other purpose.

Unless B-EASY would be a PF for us I don't see it happening

Well that's the position he was drafted at.

yea, I wonder if the 8mil is the bigger prize here and Beasley is just a talent gamble. His defense was very, very bad but he is young and there was a lot of hype.

I just worry his attitude will stop any desire to grow. Although it would be ironic to be led by a Darko/Beasley team.

I still think Beasley is going to be a good player. At worst a great 6th man, Lamar Odom type. He's pretty athletic, and has a pretty decent shot. I watched a heat-boston game on nbatv today and I was surprised with his quickness.

Nobody at all wants him, why would we? Sounds like desperate miami fans making up things...

This would be done more for capspace this year than it is for Beasley.

Actually, considering the huge amount of additional cap space we create, I would consider Beasley a low risk / very high reward player for us. In an uptempo offense, he could easily play the 4 but, for him to max his potential, he has got to be able to play SF (carmelo style). Otherwise he backs up both Love and Johnson which still nets him close to 30 mpg.

We can then use our cap space on Milicic, Pekovic, and still have enough to go after Rudy G or sit on it for one more year.

Milicic (30) - Pekovic (18)
Love (30) - Beasley (18)
Johnson (32) - Beasley (10) - Webster (6)
Webster (24) - Brewer (24)
Flynn (30) - Sessions (18)

That team could end up self destructing or surprising the world.

Pre-draft I pictured us taking Cousins and trading for SuperCool. Man, what a grumpy pair that would be.

This sickens me. Al for Beasley. I'd much rather raise his value and actually get back a player I give a damn about in a trade. The media will have a field day with this when Al is averaging 23 and 11 in Toronto and Beasley is coming off the bench at PF here.

That story was reported both ways -- that miami turned it down and that we turned it down, so who knows what's true.

I think we need to quit looking at it as Al for Beasley, but rather Al for Beasley and 8mil in cap space. If we have a plan for the space then it becomes interesting.

Cap space for this season or next? If its this year its damn near useless IMO.
