David Lee to visit

Post#1 » by Metin91 » Thu Jul 1, 2010 4:23 am

MNTimberwolves RT @jonahballow David Kahn: "Excited to see Rudy Gay tomorrow & David Lee on Sat to show them what the team/city has to offer" #Twolves #NBA

So he was the other mentioned player.

David Lee? Ugh. Doesn't he literally go sit on the bench when his team is on defense?

If we pick him up, I won't need Ipecac.

Not a fan of Lee on the team. As others have mentioned, would much rather have Jefferson.

I do like that Kahn is working hard and though not the biggest names, still good names to have come out to the "horrible, cold, small market" Timberwolves. Heck, other FA's see people coming out here, may put something in the back of their minds as well.

Just hope he stays smart with contract offers and talent evaluation and fit.

I heard Lee was shooting 500 three pointers a day. Plus, in NY he had to play center even though he is only Love's size. That's just cruel.

Lee seems like the kind of big GS would value......maybe Anthony Randolph still is a possibility. It seems odd that Kahn would go through all the trouble of bringing him here and selling him the team, just to move him. Why not just call him up and say "we'd pay you the most, then trade to you Golden State"?

As long as getting Lee is more about what Rambis wants then what Kahn wants, I don't have a problem.

Lee is not as completely useless defensively as some are being led to believe. It is nearly impossible to standout defensively on a terrible terrible defensive team chalk full of players who cant and wont defend and a coach who spends zero time coaching it.

The idea of using Al to land Gay and still being able to acquire a player of Lee's capabilities to replace Al still interests me very much. Al for Lee and Gay essentially (if we'd be fortunate enough to see it work out that way)...that is an upgrade. Lee brings it every night and does actually fit in quite well. We'd see an offseason where our wing positions are significantly upgrade and we'd still have a deep, solid, big frontline rotation with Love, Lee, Darko, and Pekovic.

I personally would like to see Lee here. A four-man rotation of Lee/Darko/Love/Pekovic is pretty solid (and pale).

Lee is a more athletic guy than people give him credit for:

Lee averaged 20/12/4 this year. Thats impressive! Against us, he put up 28/10/4 and 16/11/5

He's closer to Shawn Kemp than he is to Love.

It's a bit outdated, but draftexpress has nice things to say about Lee defensively:

Draftexpress wrote: A solid defensive player due to his athleticism and effort level. Very good at defending players that like to stake out in the high post. Has the lateral quickness to stay in front of most power forwards. Suffocates his man on the perimeter when he knows he has a quickness advantage. Isn’t a great defender in back to the basket situations, but fights hard for position, doesn’t let his man get anything easy, and always gets a hand up. Will get beaten by stronger players who don’t get intimidated by his physical style of player. Does a good job going straight up and committing a ton of silly fouls at the rim. Isn’t much of a shot blocker, but will rotate over from the weakside to contest shots. Gets a lot of deflections, but not many steals. Shows great anticipation on the glass. Always seems to be boxing out and getting in on the actions on the glass. Extremely productive as a rebounder. Plays a very smart brand of defense for a player with his level of experience, although he’ll probably never be a great defender due to his average size and bulk.

That gif is getting over used.

And why aren't you a fan? I'm just curious, because while Lee isn't Bosh or Lebron he's still a damn good player. He was even an All Star this season while posting 20-10-3 numbers in a system similar to our own and he's only 27.

D'Antoni's system is not similar to the Triangle offense at all.

It's an UP TEMPO team. Not a Triangle team.
