Would you care if Lakers traded LO?

Post#1 » by popeye64821 » Thu Jul 1, 2010 1:16 pm

if we traded l.o.? i mean i don't think it would matter we can always find etremely inconsistant that are cheaper....you know we can sign players for the minimum who refuse to show up 75 % of the team and who refuse to take responsibilty for their lackluster heart, rebounding, and defense....he's really not that important he was just tall and could handle the ball a little, but whenever he drives to the rack he gets an offensive foul anyways ....i dont know i think raja is better n d caracter can make up for the lack of off boards... but yeah l.o. is a joke, unless he actually puts his mind to becoming better and more consistant for trhis season (which is not out of the question)....but do we take that chance?

I'm going to stop opening your threads if you don't put what they're about in the title.

I would not mine packaging LO and Sasha for one great player or two solid players

Lamar + Sasha for Al Jeff then Bynum to the Wiz where they resign Miller. So Bynum for Miler and Hinrich.

Out: Odom, Sasha, Bynum
In: Al Jefferson, Miler, Hinrich

I don't hate, I just feel like he's the only asset on our team that we could trade and get something of equal value for without devastating the team.

sorry, hate comment was towards OP. the bias against LO is just too much to tolerate in that first post.

I still don't think people realize how valuable Lamar is.

Rarely gets hurt and plays through injuries, always in shape, still our best rebounder, takes tons of pressure off our guards and Kobe to bring the ball up, runs the triangle, one of our best defenders, has been great when a starter, compliments Pau and Bynum well, is one of the main leaders and voices in the locker room, team loves him, does whatever the staff asks him, sacrifices stats for the team, and despite his inconsistencies usually comes up big when we need him most.

I know we all harp on his inconsistency and all the potential he has, but you have to consider how hard it is to be really consistent in the position he's in. Bench role playing often with our crappy even more inconsistent bench mob, never know how many mins you are going to get 15 or 35, lack of shooters to spread the floor, usually the 4th maybe even 5th option on a team that includes Kobe who may shoot 19 or 30 shots...

Say what you will but Lamar has been a HUGE part of this teams success. And he has been more consistent they we give him credit for in rebounding, defense, and showing up every day.

Let see
1. We have the star in Kobe
2. We have the passing, scoring inside man in Gasol
3. We have the clutch shootin vetran in Fisher(yes he will be back)
4. We have the big C how can score and take down reb in Bynum
5. We have the D-stoper in Artest
6. We have a 6.man that can play inside and run in Odom.

Why would we deal any of those.
If Bynum gets inj again(i say 50/50). Then Odom comes in and he dose a good job.
Yes Odom is not always playing great. But i think overal he is great in his role.(he has some great games when he is the best player on the court and he is our 6.man).
He is our bench player. He should never bee a go to scorer or our best D player.
His game is going out there and do what that team needs. Solid D, reboundin, or some scoring.
Dont just look at the scoring and his miss shoot and say he is not doing his job, ther is more to do then just score in basketball.

I would no changes Bynum and Odom for Bosh. We have the inside scorer in Gasol. We dont need another scorer there. We need Bynum to take down rebound and be big and Odom just to be our best bench player.

supaflash, Das What's Up!!! Well said. Sometimes Lamar plays the 1, the 3, the 4, the 5 hell he's even 6 and 7 and everyone screams for consistency. Most players go into a game knowing their position and knowing who there gonna check. Lamar plays them all and checks them all. Who else does this?? They can trade him if they want but they're gonna have to get at least 3 players who all play different positions to fill his shoes. We may not miss Lamar till somebody throws Bosh the ball and asks him to take it into the front court.

+1
Great post!

What we need is to beef up our bench with good solid players that can play significant minutes in the regular season, and keep Kobe, DFish, and Bynum, and Gasol's minutes down so that group can be relatively rested in the playoffs.
We need a second unit that can hold leads and not constantly be outplayed by the opposition bench.
I really think instead of focusing on trading Bynum and/or Lamar, we need to just focus on getting good bench players.

Raptors isn't taking Lamar, let alone packaged with Sasha, for Bosh. Just because we got Gasol for nothing doesn't mean you should pipe dream about making another ripoff.
