Does anyone know the structure of Pekovic and Milicic's deals, are they back loaded or level? What is our available capspace now (without any Al Jeff trade)?

According to Chad Ford, we've got 5 million left.

4th year is only partially guaranteed. Not sure how much though.

I think team/player options can only occur in the final year of the deal

I bet with our remaining cap space, we will go after a shooter like Redick or Morrow

It is who we thought for about as much as we thought. Ii is longer than anticiapated, which isn't bad, though I do hope for team options in there. Possibly even a player option if Darko doesn't think it is working out.

Either way, we figured as much and it comes down to what we do with AL in either trade for a decent player or cap space.

I think we're attempting to trade Al for cap space and still planning to go hard at Rudy Gay.

Great deal for you guys.. always liked Darko, I think he's gonna flourish with a starting job here in Minnesota. I've always wanted him on the Celtics.

We better damn well go after Gay. I'll puke if we sign Morrow instead. Another long shooter. At least Gay can create some along with his athleticism and shooting.

Orlando is paying a 5 minute/game backup the full MLE, and they've got a max contract at the 5 already in Howard. Are you complaining about that?

I really can't complain too much about paying them both less than 9.5 million/year together. They both should have the capability to outplay their contracts, and if Pekovic proves that he's a low post beast in the NBA like he was in Europe, he'll be a major asset being paid only 3.3/year.

I guess I'm concerned at a low level about the length of Darko's deal, but he just accepted a contract that will pay him like half of what his previous contract paid because he wants to play here.

Thanks Worm!

Al makes close to 10mil so if we can indeed get raw capspace for him, that puts us at about 15M which is not quite max money but close...

Next up is Bjelica, then our Serbian trifecta is complete!!!

Yeah I'm hoping for some Team options, Player options, or ETO's, both for the wolves sake and for Darkos. He just hasen't proved he can stay in one place for over a season without falling out of favor somewhere, and I'd hate to be the next team that has Darko problems.

He's set to make 13 mil so even better and if we trade him for Beasley we should have like 8 mil + the 5 mil. So if we really want Gay we either trade Al for raw cap space or S&T

Considering the Gooden deal and the proposed Salmon's and Frye deals, I think we got the two best bargains in free agency so far. Yet, that won't stop every sports writer imaginable from trashing us.

Good deal for a starting C. I'm not as sold on the guy as most of us but if he does bust this isn't a horrendous contract.

Perhaps I don't understand the cap hold, but doesn't signing Darko to a $5mil/per contract actually save us about $6mil under the cap because it eliminates his $11mil cap hold? So, the way I see it is that actually signing him and Pek has cleared up $2mil cap space than before (5mil for Darko plus 4mil for Pek). Maybe some of you that are more knowledgeable about the cap than I am could clear this up for me.

Lets take a look at some contracts:

Marcin Gortat - 5 years, 34 million
Chris Andersen - 5 years, 26 million
Anderson Varejao - 6 years, 42.5 million
Drew Gooden - 5 years, 32 million

All four of those are backup bigs. We signed our starting center for 4 years. 20 million. Thats a pretty good bargain.

True. But all the cap projections were assuming we renounced Darko's rights. Technically we're probably over the cap right now.

No one was considering Darko's cap hold when we were caclulating cap space before. We are a little more than $4M under the cap now.
