I don't know but I think Al Jefferson is a great suggestion at the price of Odom. He's an excellent player, injury-prone to be sure but 25 and a major talent upgrade over Odom. Defensively he'll play better with better personnel around him, he has the tools for that.

Having a constant double post presence out of Jefferson-Gasol-Bynum would be absolutely devastating. There is no front line that can stop that trio.

i would love a team like that, but the whole team chemistry would be messed up, we would have 7 original players and 6 new ones, that wont work out too good

but if chemistry was not an issue, the plan would be good

my bad, anyways, that would be only 11 players, and we would have to get two more players, so almost half the team would be brand new to the triangle

farmar, brown, mbenga/powell are all gone. these players are just their replacements. for reserves we just sign our rookies.

we get our starting pointguard, a solid veteran center, a young solid pf/sf in warrick, all that without spending any money and by just trading 1 core player and we save $5 M. our salary would now just be around $78 M. we can now afford to use the full MLE.

plus we still have our starters bryant, pau, bynum, artest, fish.

re-sign Fisher, Brown

sign Richard Jefferson for the MLE?
I know he is not the kind of player we need the most, but he is probably the best player we can get for the MLE, and it would be nice to have a good scorer coming off the bench, someone we can always rely on to get us points when Kobe and Pau are resting.

Earl Watson for that other little exception?

Trade Vujacic and draft picks for Nazr Mohammad

Bynum /Gasol /Mohammad
Gasol /Odom
Artest /Jefferson
Bryant /Brown /Jefferson
Fisher /Watson /Brown

Cats won't do that trade ^

Also, Ireland was saying today 100% on Fish, 50/50 on Brown returning, and 0% on Farmar, Peezy, and Dacos.

If we give Fisher $5 million I'm going to kill my cat.

Hopefully this is the end of Farmar and Brown though. Truthfully, I'd rather see Vujacic play that Brown anyway, and that's saying something because Vujacic is the only player I've ever wished injury upon.

Since we're not going to spend our MLE, apparently (or maybe we will, who the fsck knows), I think we'll be going after Raja Bell. He won't demand anywhere near the full MLE, and he's the most consistent shooter/best defender that we can bring in at this point.

I don't buy for one minute that we're seriously interested in Blake and Watson. Those guys suck donkey balls.

The Bucks will match whatever we throw at Ridnour, which damn sure won't be MLE, so he's out of serious consideration.

ok so if we're not resigning farmar, brown, mbenga, powell

then we'll definitely use the full MLE and the vet's?

Total Longshot scenario just for discussion...

Chris Paul "May want a trade out of NO" according to WT...
So as Lakers fans, what would you trade for him?

LO+Sasha for Chris Paul... Works in TC but doesn't seem likely unless Paul demanded a trade to LA specifically.

LO+Bynum for Paul+Okafor also works and seems more possible.

Granted, this all hinges on if Paul demands a trade and means a trade not just a new deal...

But what do you think?

Personally, I don't think we need a PG of CP3's considerable talent, and I'm not sure he's the best fit if we keep the TRI... But if he wanted to be a Laker bad enough, you got to make that happen.

81M for 5 years (16M pr) for Gay that's stupid. Unless this guy has become Paul Pierce overnight. I haven't seen Rudy play lately, bu that's the kind of pay a probable HOF talent should get.

When I see contracts like thisI say to myself why can't I be an NBA GM? I just wouldn't make that kind of decision.

Is Gay that much better than Salmons? 39M for 5 years (7.80 per). I'll take Salmons. I'd try to get Salmons for closer to 6M per myself.

42M savings between the two.

Mayo has gotta be saying to himself damn! Mayo in under contract with a team option after next year for 5M lol. Bet he'll play out the season and start bitching for a renegotiation. Then they'll have to deal with Marc Gasol. Max contract for Gay, wow.

Damn with the way free agency is starting...Gay, Salmons, Johnson, Gooden all getting paid big money. I'm even more doubtful we get a Mike Miller caliber player, he'll easily get 7M a year at this rate.
Thank you, Phil.

No kidding.

There's entirely too much cocaine being snorted this off-season. That's the only thing I can think of to explain all this generosity.
