Vince Carter

Post#1 » by PetrieUnderstudy » Thu Jul 1, 2010 8:03 pm

Per Hoopshype the Orlando Magic are shopping Vince Carter. He's due 17 million this year and 18 million team option next year. What if we offered Francisco Garcia & cap space for him. Saves Magic money upfront, we have possibly most cap space of any team in NBA next season (maybe Melo) and/or we can move VC at tradeline to contender for pick/assets.

Tyreke Evans/Beno Udrih/Tyrese Rice
Vince Carter/Ryan Thompson
Donte Greene/Omri Casspi
Carl Landy/Jason Thomspon/Jon Brockman
Samuel Dalembert/DeMarcus Cousins/Hassan Whiteside

What? No. We're fine, and more importantly, Orlando wouldn't do that. They still wouldn't get any capspace.

They aren't gaining capspace but since they're way over the cap they are saving a boatload of money. 12.5 million difference in VC/Cisco contract plus luxury tax penalty.

No, let all the other teams look like idiots this off-season. I like sitting back and laughing at it all.

Cisco is one of the leaders on this team and quite possibly the only vocal veteran we have. I agree he's overpaid but do you really think that it's a good idea to replace him with Vince Carter on a young, impressionable team?

If the Kings use their cap space this offseason it should only be to take on 1 year contracts from teams in the luxury tax--and giving the Kings assets they can use in the future.

I don't think they'll downgrade in talent to save money right now. And they won't even save THAT much money long term, since Cisco still has a couple more years.

We have 8 guys under contract right now !

TYREKE
BENO
CISCCO
CASSPI
J.THOMPSON
DALY
GREEN
LANDRY

If you factor we sign BROCKMAN & our 2 rookies COUSINS & WHITESIDE thats 11 players

we have 15 million under the cap with signing BROCKMAN , COUSINS & WHITESIDE all of that will cost roughyly 5.5 million wich means after those 3 guys are signed we have about 9.5 million

we still would need to sign between 2 & 4 more players depending on how many players the leauge requires each team to have signed to a roster

the only scenerio i can see the KINGS taking on V,CARTERS contract is to trade both BENO & CISCCO & We would have to absorbe the difference in salary however I dont see that happening because we would not have a true point guard outside of REKE & even if the KINGS signed 1 or 2 point guards in the free agency the risk would be to great being short at that position etc.

The KINGS however could help in a 3 way deal though were will deal Cisco but V.CARTER ='S KINGS wont happen !

I would not be opposed to signing Udoka to a 1 or 2 year deal as long as its not for that much wich i suspect it wouldnt be !

Wait, with the additions of Cousins and Whiteside, why exactly do we need to sign Brockman? There's no way he gets ANY minutes here anymore.

Landry/Thompson
Cousins/Dalambert/Whiteside

He's an undersized forward on a team that now has all the size it needs. There's just no room for him.

Mark my words BROCKMAN will be resigned

I was at the draft part at ARCO BROCKMAN was there they had interviewed him & he said he will be back !

BESIDES : DALY has 1 year left likely gone after this year unless he plays really well & takes less $$$$$$$ the year after .
Cousins & Whiteside are rookies as we all know Cousins will get alot of good minutes where are Whiteside minutes will be minumal likely.
LANDRY is in the last year of his contract & J.THOMPSON is getting better but I am sure the organization wants to see if he will show alot more improvement otherwise he could be a trading piece down the line ala SPENCE I hope not though as I like JASON but he needs to learn to shut his mouth to the refs a bit more & stop complaining !
So in the long and the short of this we have alot of ? marks at our power forwards & centers though we have alot more depth now ! Brockmans toughness alone would earn him a spot on our team !

i think you sign brockman, as insurance just incase if anybody gets injured and Dalambert wouldnt be in Sac after this year. To me it makes sense to sign Brockman and he is going to be cheap.

I would only do this IF:

1. The Kings wanted out of Cisco's long-term deal
2. They wanted to go wild next off-season.

All the good teams are maxing themselves out this summer.

Next season is the summer of the Kings!!!

Sign him if nothing else to be a tough guy in practice and teach Whiteside whats its about in the league.

You always want to have a "Brockman" on the team. He'll outwork everyone else on this team w/o breaking a sweat and when the time is needed he'll come in and break a few hearts, and faces too. Brock + DMC = PAIN!!!

The way Brock battled Dwight last year in the post was all anyone needed to know about this dudes toughness. Bring him back! Bring him back! Bring him back! Bring him back!

I'll pass even though Garcia's long contract is done. We just need to sign a point guard and shooting guard and we're good to go play out this season. See where we are next year and move on from there. Don't want Frye on a long term deal. He cant play center because he cant defend the bigs.
3 Year deal would suit the suns nicely. Vince is not the palyer we need right now.
