Before LA was a contender....again. Odom said he didnt want to go to Indiana that he wanted to stay in LA. This was when we were trying to get Bynum fro JO. I would assume he still feels the same maybe more so.

I like him and he comes with good experience but often times I saw him put up ill advised shots for the lakers.
He is more of an increased court time backup (potential starter fill in for some games here and there) rather than a full time starter

Why do people insist on commenting about stuff with little-to-no knowledge about a player?

Wow. So.... he can dunk on a breakaway.... and chase down Rafer Alston and Ime Udoka. Yeah, you've reaaaaaally convinced me.

Farmar is a good PG and I've been a fan of him since his UCLA days but I'm disappointed that he couldn't quite make his mark with Lakers. I do not know the situation in Indiana but if you are looking for a PG that you can carry into the future he might be a good bet if you can stay patient with him.

He never really took off in LA because we started contending as soon as he came over and Phil likes to trust Fisher with major minutes. Also the fact that Fisher is an ironman playing 450+ games without an injury didn't help Farmar's cause either.

He is a hardworker but he is cocky and had a few run-ins with the coaching staff before. His confidence is his strength as well as his achilles heel. He will shine in a fastbreak offense, he shoots well and is an incredibly good finisher at the rim for his size. Not afraid to take on challenges and comes out well most times.

He accounted well for himself when given a responsibility like game 5 vs Houston last season's playoffs when Fisher was suspended. I think Farmar got 12/7 on 50+ % shooting while holding Brooks to around 2-12 shooting but since his opportunities have been erratic and far and between he still has a learning curve to take and if given the time he is a very good talent.

I for one want to see him in a good situation where he can play 30 + minutes a game and believe that he can be a good mid-tier PG in the NBA.

I don't like Farmar for the simple reason that we could end up with someone better. If all else fails, i'd be fine with him.. but NOT AS A STARTER.

Heck, at least Farmar isn't an idiot. It's not like we're in trouble of getting the new Tinsley. Guy has legitimate championship experience. We could do way worse.

Getting Farmar on something like a 1 year/$2-3 million deal should be considered a coup for us.

Farmar is talented, and he would literally have a make good contract with us. He may not be the long-term answer, but we sure as hell would not be paying him like one in this circumstance. If he works out, we have first chance to re-sign him, and we will have given him the chance to break out. If he doesn't, he expires and doesn't touch one bit of our massive cap space in 2011.


Long story short, if the best options on the trade market are Jose Calderon's, Baron Davis', or Mo Williams', then we should ignore those guys, and just sign a Jordan Farmar, Randy Foye, or Earl Watson for one year, and see what we can do with massive cap space and a few young assets to possibly package in a trade. Who knows, maybe if NOH have a bad season this year and Paul desperately wants out, maybe we could send them Rush and our 1st next year along with our cap space and just absorb his contract. Not likely, but we'd be one of the few teams in a position to be able to do something like that next off-season. Or insert any other quality PG in the league in that spot.

Take that out to starters minutes in an open system with the greenlight to shoot and pass, assuming 30mpg and you should see the following.....

13-14ppg
3.5-4 asst.
3 reb.
1-1.5 steals

I'd say asside from the assist numbers being a hare low, that's quality starter for at least half the league, plus he brings championship experience, something this team has been lacking in.

His assist numbers are low because he plays off the ball at times in the triangle offense. Give him a point oriented offense and he could average 5 a game in 30 mins playing time. He is fundamentally sound with the passing aspects.

While he does have the tendency to try the outrageous thread the needle type passes a firm coach could keep him in control.

You know he has a 42in vert right? He's also one of the fastest players in the NBA. It's a shame how guys like Farmar and Joe Alexander can't get it together to be successful.
