Kenyon Martin for Marvin
Trevor Ariza for Marvin

Re: Bibby/Marvin to GS in the works?
if only their was a 3rd team that could help the Hawks get some cap space, the Hawks could be a major player in the market.
ATL gets: Mike Conley (or Darrell Arthur, or OJ Mayo)
GSW gets: Marvin and Zaza
MEM gets: Monta
that should give the Hawks the ability to make an offer to a free agent that is better than Joe.

Harry....that trade doesn't work. Memphis needs to send out more than Conley if they want Ellis.
GS also has no use for Zaza.

^ that is fine, then send out Bibby and take back some fillers
but the Warroirs could use Zaza (at back up), because i think Biedrins is on the way out, Nelly doesn't like him and they made the trade for Gadz

or make a similar trade with the 3rd team being TOR and Jack or SAC and Thompson coming back to the Hawks.

Kenyon Martin may be out most of the year with injury and Ariza is held in higher esteem by Houston than Marvin right now.

Nelson being told to take a step back is happening a couple of years too late. He's been like a patient off his meds for some time now.
The shopping of Marvin makes sense to me. I've said for some time that if Joe is resigned (without even imagining this price tag) that Marvin needed moved so that we could get contribution from the position at a lower price tag. I'm starting to wonder if Joe is being moved to SF primarily and the addition is actually a SG. That's would make a Golden State trade make more sense as Ellis is the contract they really want to move (maybe along with Wright or Turiaf). It could be Gadzuric and Radmanovic (separate deals) but the problem with that is GSW would be the buyer not the seller taking on longer commitments in both cases. That's unlikely given their other moves. Biedrins could be the target as well, but the difference in his contract and Marvin's isn't subtantial enough for them to really deal him. Also his value could bounce back with a different man in charge.

Re: Bibby/Marvin to GS in the works?
I am proposing a trade that would be great for ATL...
Atlanta outgoing players: Mike Bibby, Marvin Williams
Atlanta incoming players: Chris Paul
New Orleans outgoing players: Chris Paul, Emeka Okafor
New Orleans incoming players: Monta Ellis, Andris Biedrins
Golden State outgoing players: Monta Ellis, Andris Biedrins
Golden State incoming players: Mike Bibby, Marvin Williams, Emeka Okafor
LOL, Riley will just hang up. serious so you guys get the A piece while the warrios get shafted with a has been in bibby, a 3rd option player in MW and a no offense big in Okafor that has a large contract..

^^^ Of course he'd hang up because the savings would be minimal. I don't think any rational Hawks fans expect to turn Marvin Williams into Chris Paul.
However, if a deal was going to be made for both Monta Ellis and Andris Biedrins for pure financial motives it would likely be for Marvin Williams, Mike Bibby, and Jamal Crawford (expiring). The reasons would be simple 80M over 4 years become 50M over 4 years with 6.3M in extra cap room in year 2, 11.7M in year 3 and 12.5M in year 4. I'm not saying that the deal would happen because it would be very bold for the Hawks to take on that much salary (I'm sure they are discussing smaller variants though). I would even guess that the Warriors would be seen as the winners of the deal because of the freedom it would allow. Even Bibby would have value in the deal next year as an expiring contract. I don't pretend it is a even talent swap, but it is not about that, it is about finances.

The Warriors are looking to cut salary, but not so much so that they are going to take crap back in return. Atlanta would get the dial tone rather quickly for a propsal such as that, GS would be better off with that rumored OJ Mayo/Thabeet deal for Ellis.

Re: Bibby/Marvin to GS in the works?
If the Mayo/Thabeet rumor was real it would have happened by now. Memphis wasn't willing to take on Ellis's salary and give up two young lottery picks. Also, GSW took crap back for Crawford last year and for Maggette a couple weeks ago. If they are desperate to dump salary and have no other takers they've proven to not be picky.

^ GSW don't think that Mayo and Curry would work. GSW traded away Crawford and Maggs because they are trying to get rid of guys who are ball dominate, and just want to put complimentary players around Curry.

Mayo can adjust and play either style and can't possibly be as ball dominant as Ellis. I had heard Memphis rejected the offer, but after the fact it is hard to get the facts on stuff like that.

Re: Bibby/Marvin to GS in the works?
Alex Kennedy said the Hawks are looking to shed salary and the Warriors were looking into taking Marvin's contract on.
How does that translate to "Warriors looking to dump Monta"?
Our GM just said he wouldn't trade Monta unless he was getting a real player in return. I was surprised that Larry Riley seemed so unwilling to trade him.
