NBA has no place for honesty and loyalty.
It's all about business, business with a capital B.
This is a harsh reality, but it's true.

Yao should have opted out for a better contract.
I mean, teams would have called Morey 24/7 for Yao.

Look at all the juicy contracts that have been given out
so far. Yao will regret, someday, for not getting a piece
of the pie.

Thank goodness Yao doesn't care too much about money then. lol
Here's hoping he is healthy for a full season and leads us deep into the postseason

Here's Yao's thinking:

I make a gazillion yen on endorsements, so do I want to look like a moneygrabber dou-ch-e for pocket change?

Hey, Houston has good Chinese restaurants.

I don't really like my agent that much anyway.

Okay, I'll stay.

Do you think Yao could've gotten the Max in free agency, Dunleavy Jr?

I kind of agree with this thinking. I think that Yao is coming at this decision - and indeed his entire future - from a completely different perspective than other NBA free agents. For many this is it. Yes, there may be coaching, TV, Radio, etc; but their "big" payday is this contract.

Yao seems to have a much broader focus that extends beyond basketball. For all the doors his association has opened for Les Alexander, Yao has seen similar benefits. Let's not forget that the man is already an owner of a professional basketball team!

I'm thinking that Yao will never hurt financially, and he knows that. He also knows that perhaps being perceived as a guy who jumps for the next dollar may be counterproductive to maintaining this reputation as a player, celebrity & most importantly - businessman.

You should pay more attention to the wisened words of dunleavyjr and the experience that comes from his 19 officially-adult years.
Morey 2020.
