Luol Deng?
Some guys in the General NBA Discussion board are saying that they've heard rumors of an Okur-Deng trade. Do you guys know anything about this?

I think positionally it makes zero sense, but, getting something of Deng's value for Okur (who is coming off serious injury) is pretty appealing from an asset standpoint.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Re: Luol Deng?
Deng's obviously better than Okur at their respective career stages, but why the hell would we make our most glaring problem worse, when we're already loaded with swingmen?

Re: Luol Deng?
I'd definitely do it! I don't see why Chicago would do it tho. It only frees up a couple million dollars and they have to take back a player who is injured and could miss a good portion of the year. It would make great sense for the Jazz if they don't keep Boozer. AK will spend more time at the 4 so Deng at SF would make some sense.

Agree with Soul Patch on both accounts. But the thing we really have to focus here is the epicness of The59Sound's sig. It's just beautiful. True poetry.

Re: Luol Deng?
Deng is an ideal Jazz man. Quiet, excellent team player, great variety of skills. If chicago would take on Okur to gain an extra $2.5 million of cap space and lose Deng's long term deal, I would gladly take Deng as an important piece for the future. However, there is reportedly a deal for Deng with Portland on the table. Bulls would get Pryzbilla and Bayless and actually save more money this year, while taking on very little future money.

Re: Luol Deng?
Deng is worth his contract, he puts up 18 and 7 as a small forward, blocks shots, hustles - he is an ideal player for our system. I don't see how this gets done though unless it is a three way. Maybe D'antoni wants Okur and Chicago wants Lee?

This could be part of a bigger change, there are rumors about Phoenix demonstrating an interest in AK.

Who do you think Phoenix would send back for him?

Re: Luol Deng?
The only salary they have that is close is Richardson and I doubt we want him. Jazz have been interested in Amundson but he should be cheap,m so I think it would need to be some level of three trade.

Re: Luol Deng?
Bulls fan here....this was just a rumor...but...the reason behind it was to clear a couple of million off the books so we can sign two max FA's outright.

Actually, given that Okur plays subpar help defense, the impact of trading Okur is about neutral at worst on the 5 spot. Watch the tape--or see the link below. Or both.The59Sound wrote:Deng's obviously better than Okur at their respective career stages, but why the hell would we make our most glaring problem worse, when we're already loaded with swingmen?

Are those minutes going to Koufos when we unload Okur?
