Richard Hamilton is available and willing to play for you. Just submit offers to 3 Championship Dr, Auburn Hills, Mi. C/O Joe Dumars.

Is that right next to Overpaying Blvd?

Let me see, Richard Hamilton will make 11.6 million this year, but he has career averages of 18 ppg, 35% 3pt shooter, 85% FT shooter, 3.3 reb, 3.5 ast, and he averaged 34 minutes per game. He's been pretty healthy most of his career (except last season with a bad ankle) and he's actually one of the FEW NBA Players that gets BETTER in the playoffs. He's not a no-show like VC, or Joe Johnson. He's been a very good professional player and will continue to be that way throughout the remainder of his contract. He's still in great shape and he's one of those guys that could play till 38 and still be very productive (ala Reggie Miller). He's just redundant now that Joe Dumars has signed Ben Gordon to a long contract.

I know that Detroit wants to trade Rip Hamilton, and that most sources say that his 12 million per year is simply untradeable. But it's not like you are getting a player who can't play in the league anymore. He's not a crippled up Elton Brand, or a fat Eddie Curry or a player who has nothing left except a bloated contract. Rip still can play, he's still a good playoff performer and he's not that old yet. Billups was traded for AI and instantly Denver went to contenders. Rip is a guy who could help a team in need of a shooting guard to put them over the hump. I gotta believe that he still has value around this league.

1. I don't think you should use career stats, particularly for a 32 year old Rip Hamilton:

2009-10 33.7 MPG< FG 40.9%, 3P 29.7%, 2.7 RPG, 4,4 APG, 0.6 SPG, 0.1 BPG, 18.1 PPG (46 games)

Career 33.4 MPG, FG 45.1%, 3P 34.3%, 3.3 RPG, 3.5 APG, 0.8 SPG, 0.2 BPG, 17.9 PPG

2. Even if you hope that Hamilton will be able to get back to putting up his career averages at 33, $12 mil/year should get you a star SG, and those numbers - particularly on our team for a single, non-playoff season - are not worth $12 mil/year.

if we had a kickass stacked veteran team with a 1 year window and only needed a SG, I might consider Hamilton briefly

Last year he was injured and he tried to play through it for awhile which is why his statistics suffered. His FG% was pretty low last year which isn't indicative of his career. He's always been a 1-2 scoring option on a TEAM. He's not a #1 go to player and he's not paid as one. He's not getting Rudy Gay money or even Joe Johnson money. He's still productive and he's not getting unreasonable money. He's well paid but he does produce. There were only 4 other SG's in the NBA that averaged more PPG than Rip last season, they were: KOBE (24 million), WADE (TBD), MONTE ELLIS (11 million), Joe Johnson (about to be 20 million per). Rip is a very good scorer. He's still productive and he's not a bad deal considering he IS A GOOD PLAYER YET.

Did the four SG's average their points on FG 40.9% too?

I'm sorry, but Rip Hamilton cannot give our lottery team $25 mil worth of production over the next two years.

He can get you out of Al Jefferson's contract AND fill a need at SG for you. Are you sure that your GM just paid two Centers, Pekovic and Milicic about 10 million + whatever K. Love will command and still intends to pay for Big Al? That's a lot of money tied up in the frontcourt. At least with a RIP/BIG AL swap you are receiving talent in return. Rip is still a talent, you are right his FG% was low last year, but he was fighting an ankle injury and other injuries (thus his lowest amount of games played in his career). Even with a poor season, he still put up decent numbers minus the low FG%.

Why did you quote me? You didn't even get the joke and what you quoted had nothing to do with what you talked about.

The joke was about Dumars, btw.
