Riley also said after being asked of the meeting that he was confident Wade will return to Miami. The paper reported that the Heat are waiting to meet with Wade after he finishes meeting with other teams and could offer him a 6 year $125 million contract.

There are at least 3 reports:
ESPN says that Wade requested it
Chicago says that Chicago requested it and Wade accepted enthusiastically
Miami says that Chicago requested it and Wade took it as a courtesy

Honestly, its high stakes poker right now. Chicago was in the middle of meeting with Bosh when the Wade meeting happened. Chicago wouldn't have done that if the conversation wasn't extremely serious.

As far as Riley goes, the only quote I've seen was when he was asked what he thought about the Wade-Chicago meetings and he responded by reiterating the team's and city's commitment to Wade. He didn't say he was sure that Wade was committed to them.

There might be another quote out there, but I haven't seen it yet.

if wade does come here I will give him a bit of extra credit. I suspect he knows that he blew it with the loyalty crap. Why come to the bulls then? because he wants to win and he sees our situation as giving him a better shot.

Hey, that's funny. We want to win also!

The 40 years not 10 seems like it might have to do with the extra money on the Bird max, doesn't it?

I'll admit, I haven't watched the video yet.

His decision is about the next 40 years not the next 10.

Now this could bode well for the Bulls in the sense of his family situation.

But with regard to his professional career, and after he's done playing, this is where the loyalty thing could come into play. If he's thinking of being involved with a team past his retirement, he might want to know that he will have a place there.

I guess we'll see... does anyone really consider Adande a good source of information, though?

coldfish wrote:From the Raps board:

blueseeka wrote:7. Toronto spit in their face and told them on no uncertain terms to screw themselves if Deng was their best offer for the SnT. Chicago reacted by hitting the phones hard, looking anywhere for someone that could take Deng off their hands the way Hinrich was moved. Hence that Portland rumor of Deng for Przybilla and Bayless. Chicago went to tell Toronto about the deal and got another flat out rejection since Przybilla and Bayless are even scrubbier than Deng (who isn't actually that scrubby but does make 12M per which would definitely harm a team trying to rebuild like the Raptors).

8. Chicago was left with no better options at the end of the night, and Bosh and Wade departed from the meeting with Henry Thomas and Bulls management without a commitment but a preliminary idea to start up negotiations again the next day with the Raptors and other teams to find a way to push through a SnT for Bosh.

You would think that Bulls were prepared as it never seemed that the Raps would be interested in Deng with that contract. I love how Bosh is seems like the greedy one when i havent heard anything about a S&T mentioned for either Miami or or Cleveland. If all the above is true or close to the truth, it does seem like Chicago has no interest in giving up Noah. I would guess if it meant the difference between Bosh and Wade or the status quo, they would give up on Noah. Time will tell

This is the part that reads dubious to me. I don't see Colangelo playing this kind of hardball with Bosh. If they don't like Deng then Bulls have other attractive things (Taj, JJ, TPE, picks) that should be as appealing as anything Toronto is likely to get from other Bosh suitors.

But if it were to be true, then I keep thinking of SpinninHouse's sig, "Luol Deng Ruined My Life."

I have read on here that he is going to be sooooo easy to move just because someone overpaid Rudy Gay. That he's practically underpaid! According to K.C, he's been anything but.

I think its important to remember the really nasty divorce this guy just went through. If I remember correctly, his (now ex-) wife took the kids from Miami and came back to Chicago. There were some major custody battles. I gotta imagine that the extra six months of time being close to the kids would be important for him.

The "next forty years" comment seems to have a bit of that in it.

Dwyane Wade's Chicago family ties

By Henry Abbott

After extensive talks with Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade has made no secret of the fact that he is due for some serious decision-making.

As has been well discussed, the decision is rich with basketball analysis -- would Wade be closer to a title in Miami or Chicago?

Yet there is a family reason for Wade to consider Illinois, beyond the fact that he is famously from the Chicago area.

The more immediate concern is access to his children.

Wade's divorce from Siohvaughn Wade was recently finalized (although an appeal is possible). The judge has awarded Wade full custody of his two sons -- for now.

A major aspect of the Wades' separation was a nasty and ongoing legal tussle over custody. Siohvaughn has been chastised by the judge for denying the player proper access to his children; as a result Wade was given temporary full custody a month ago.

However, the long-term custody arrangements have yet to be determined. A trial on that issue has been scheduled to begin in Chicago on July 19.

Should the judge decide that the NBA star is to share custody with his Illinois-based ex-wife, living nearby would give Wade far more flexibility in scheduling time with his children.

My thoughts on possible "smokescreen" scenarios.

1.Bosh won't accept <125 mill to go anywhere w/ just Wade. & Wade is either trying to threaten his slot in Chi by saying maybe he'll team up w/ LBJ in Chi & leave Bosh w/ no where good to sign or hurt his feelings by showing him how quickly CHI moved onto Wade/LeBron idea. It assumes Tor is holding out for much more in any S&T than MIA can offer. So Wade trying to get Bosh to goto MIA w/o S&T to make sure his "friend" has a good landing spot.

2. Or he really wants to convince LBJ look you're never winning a ring if Bosh & I team up in CHI so either you come join us in MIA or get used to being #2. It assumes only way Bosh considers forcing way to MIA & possibly giving up 6th yr is if LBJ commits first.

3. Hurry the hell up Riley & get stuff done or else. I wasted 2 prime yrs for this so make it happen already. Riley so confindent since he thinks it's an empty threat.
