Re: New Yorks sales pitch to Lebron
IMO...this could be why there is a "hold up" on Joe agreeing to terms with the Hawks.
The only team that can offer 2 FULL maxes as we speak is NY(assuming Wade re-signs). Chicago,Miami, and NJ are not going to offer the full 5 year max until they know where LeBron is going. If NY is really trying to split 34 million 3 ways....then this could be a ploy to get them to hurry up and offer Joe his max(or for another team to S&T)before he stays with the Hawks. The Hawks could also be putting this out there so they don't come off as cheap.

Re: New Yorks sales pitch to Lebron
The pitch is BS to me.
Lebron would make more money long-term with New York, but Chicago should be second, followed by Miami, and Cleveland. New Jersey who is moving to Brooklyn would compete with Chicago and possibly be toe to toe with the Knicks.
The options they gave Lebron: A. Sign for the max. B. Take less money so we can sign 3 max players.
I see no reason to believe that Lebron would consider accepting less money.

Re: New Yorks sales pitch to Lebron
I liked the pitch, but what it ignores is the likelihood of winning a title in New York is much weaker given their roster and history of filling out the roster. I agree with their bashing of Miami for overall earning potential.
I'm happy if Lebron goes to New York (because of the window it could open for the Hawks). I'm fine if he stays in Cleveland or goes to New Jersey (I would see him as an obstacle but not a overwhelming one. If he goes to Chicago I will be sad (because I think it pushes the Hawks lower down the ladder). If he goes to Miami I'll be shocked because I don't see him taking less money than Dwayne Wade to play along side him. The Olympics are one thing but swallowing your ego full time is quite another.
BTW, if Joe is waiting for Lebron's decision to give the Hawks an answer on their ludicrous offer then I would pull the offer off the table and risk Joe walking for nothing. That's just me I don't want a max player who isn't the proud and dedicated face of the franchise. If he waits until the last minute to try to go elsewhere then screw him.

I think the Knicks should have shown him the ratings of the 99 finals compared to the 2003 and 2007 finals. A championship in NYC would have far more prestige than a championship in Cleveland or Newark.

So you're saying that he would make the most money in NY and the pitch is BS? Which one is it? If he would make the most money in NY than it seems like the pitch convinced you. And do you really think the Nets would provide the marketing opportunities the Knicks would? The Nets can't give away tickets to go to their games. And no, moving to Brooklyn will not ever put them on anywhere near equal footing with the Knicks in terms of exposure.

I disagree with this.

Lebron would obviously make the most with New York out of the teams in the presentation. My problem is this "$700 million he’d likely earn in Cleveland, the $690 million in Chicago, and $600 million in Miami"....I disagree with it.
