This makes matters a lot worse as Peja joins the other crap we have accumulated,and WE GET SQISHED on the BOARDS. We prematurely transfer OUR superior depth to the HORNETS who WITH DEPTH...are suddenly real good. Paul would need to be MUCH more than he can be for this to just break even.

hire Kevin Pritchard as GM, and hire either Jeff Van Gundy or Paul Silas as our new head coach.

This is the kind of change needed to really turn this thing around. That's pretty much my dream team in a managerial sense.

As for dealing for CP3, I'd be all for it. You get the feeling though that any chance to grab him would have been tied to severe financial pressure, pressure which would have at least in part been alleviated by the Aldrich/Mo Pete salary dump.

If however the situation with Paul and NO becomes untenable, then GS have a nice piece in Curry to centre a deal around. But looking at things objectively, I still think that even in a bind, NO would insist on a short-term bankable star to sell tix for a new owner. They would probably also try and handcuff Okafor's contract to Paul also.

I tend to agree. Though If you mean to the extent of CP3, in NO, on what either way will be a mediocre Hornet team, then I'd have to disagree. Curry's one of my favourites, especially in the current (albeit flawed) up tempo offense, I just don't think as a prospective owner you would feel AS comfortable with Steph as your main draw over Paul.

Wait, the Charlotte Hornets legacy is of relevance to New Orleans fans (you'll have to excuse my ignorance here, I don't live in the U.S and don't really understand the relocated team/prior team history dynamic)?

Again, I'd agree that he is a league feature, media darling etc. But I still think the Hornets could realistically hope to get more given Paul was probably a top 5 player/All-Star a couple of seasons back (if financial pressures had no bearing on the deal). I'm talking a top 20,30 player in the league with short-term (2-3 years) All-Star potential.

I suppose I'm thinking about what I would do with an asset like that but I suppose when you see deals like Pau Gasol for Marc Gasol, a three-year old dishwasher and a rent one, get one free voucher from Blockbuster you're prepared to concede that the 'value' owners seek in deals in far from a hard and fast rule.

The Hornets would be better served by attaching a bad contract to Darren Collison and shipping them to a team like Indiana who would lick Oprah's toejam for a solid young PG right now. If they could relieve some cap pressure by moving Okapoo or even Posey's deal then they'd be in a solid position at the end of this season to build around a very special PG in Christopher Paul.

The problem for the Hornets this season though is appeasing Paul for as long as they can until the contract pressure eases off for the club.

They should just get him a free 24 hr call girl service for a year, help ease the tension of watching LBJ, Wade, Stat and Bosh charging forwards in their careers......

I'm not sold on Curry being this elite PG that he's hyped as. Definitely nowhere near Steve Nash's play making. I think if we can get a good young player at C/PG/SF ,we shouldn't be stubborn and hold on to him.

Curry for Paul would be great for Warrior fans, but I doubt NOH would add West to the deal. May be Okafor, but not a scoring PF for a inconsistent, overpaid Biedrins. He wouldn't play well with Okafor. Plus Radmanovic killed his stock last season ( & NOH already has Peja), and I think teams would be afraid to take the fragile Brandan Wright, since he hasn't played in 2 years.

This trade proposal reminds me of when the Warriors got a steal in Baron Davis for Speedy Claxton. Then look what happened in the years that followed:

1. The Hornets draft CHRIS PAUL
2. Warriors make the playoffs, which I don't even think the Warriors expected to happen.
3. Baron splits to L.A.

I wouldn't be surprised that if this deal went through, Chris Paul would do the same thing when he becomes a FA. I'm sure he'd rather play with the other gold medalists.

Curry has ALL-STAR potential. He already has Team USA's attention, and the media loves him. Don't count him out after one season. If steady improvement outweighed consistency, Curry would've been the rookie of the year.

Nah no Okafor, the main trash with Peja beign an expiring is Posey, OK might be tradeable on his own but Posey is definitely not. You want to get CP3 you gotta take on Posey, which we can do with our scrubtastic but expiring combo of Vlad and Gadz.

For the record we had an agreement with Baron but it was managment that nixed the deal, Baron was cool with it.

If we get CP3, we won't need Curry, and since Curry can't defend any legitimate PG, what makes you think he'll be able to defend 2's either?

I look at it this way. The only way N.O. would need to trade CP3 would be if he requests it, AND/OR management wants to shed salary. I don't see them giving up Chris without also sending Okafor AND/OR Posey in the deal, and getting back good young talent(Curry,AR),and expiring(Radman,Gadzuric) and other stuff.

The proposed trade will never happen. As has been pointed out, NO would include one of their bad contracts for sure. But more important, NO has Collison waiting inthe wings to start at PG and if they traded Paul, another PG like Curry would not be their target. They would want to get noticeably better at atleast two other staring positions instead. A Curry-Collison backcourt is no bigger than a Curry-Ellis backcourt and NO would have the same problems on defense that the Warriors have now.

He's not some ultra quick guard. He has physical limitations that will make him a mediocre defender no matter what.
