I live in Miami, not Orlando like the poster above. I'm living in the thick of things. I can tell you for a fact that majority of people here don't give a hoot if Wade leaves town. Several people were calling into Miami radio shows the past few days saying that they'd rather see the Dolphins beat the Jets in regular season game than have LeBron James come to town.

Miami is NOT a sports town at all. If they're anything, they're a football town. And even that is a stretch. It's an events town. The average young person here is more concerned about fashion, nice cars, parties and the celebrities that come in and out of the city. The average old person here - and there's a ton of them - isn't likely to be from here. New York sports tend to dominate the Miami sports radio shows because of all the transplant New Yorkers.

That is not to say that there aren't die-hard Heat fans. There certainly are. But they are few and far between. The stadium is always 1/3 to 1/2 full until playoff time. And that's with a small stadium to boot. But beyond the occasional billboard, TV commercial, radio ad, Jorge Sedano and these too guys who have a show together in the early afternoon and Dan LeBatard there isn't a great deal of talk about the Heat. Most of the talk is about the Gators, the Hurricanes, the Marlins and the Dolphins when it comes to Florida sports. But the Yankees and Jets also dominate the airwaves. Perhaps that's why you don't see many people wearing Heat jerseys down here. And you wonder why Wade's jersey is 9th in NBA sales? That's partly why.

If Wade left there won't be a huge outcry. Well, there will be an outcry from Heat fans, but that won't be a huge outcry from the average person in Miami. If MJ left the Bulls in the middle of his prime, the city of Chicago would go nuts. If Wade left Miami, it wouldn't be the same big hoopla. Why? Because there's enough celebrity business down here that most of the hoopla about Wade would be in the media outside of Miami.

That being said, living here is great simply due to the weather and the pretty sights. I can totally understand the desire to live in an area like this. Those factors, the parties and the loyalty to the Heat are what would keep Wade in Miami. But even though Miami is larger, Wade leaving this town wouldn't carry the same weight as it would if LeBron left Cleveland because that is a sports town. It's ironic when you think about that since the Cavs still have pieces on their team if LeBron left even though they would be terrible without him. If Wade left? They're left with Beasley and Chalmers. Wouldn't that be a story? Well, not as big here as you might think.

Maybe he had felt this way all along, but the possibility of the superteam in Miami would have made him stay. Maybe now that supposedly isn't happening, he feels like it's not worth it to stay In Miami at the cost of time with his sons.

LOL, think of how ironic it would be if he went and made that whole jab at Chicago about "lacking loyalty" and then left Miami for them?

But he could also say he left to be loyal to his kids, so....

I could see that. Kind of sounds like it all depends on what Bosh decides. If Bosh takes Miami, Wade can just head on back there and be okay.

Bosh to anywhere else bring Wade to us IMO.

Bosh to Bulls, Wade will join Bulls

Bosh to Hou, Wade will join Bulls

That helps us if Bron decides to stay in Cle.

Trust me, if we had Wade since 2003. The Bulls would not have 2 players on the roster trying to sign Major free agents. Bulls FO are way better then Pat Riliy(Overrated). he had his chance to build a team around him but he got greedy and went for Lebron! So I don't feel bad for Miami!

I just said I live in South Florida, Orlando is in Central Florida, any real Floridian would know that.

I stay in West Palm, about an hour outside of Miami, I am in the thick of things as well.

Wade leaving Miami wouldn't carry the same weight as Lebron leaving because:

A. Wade's not from Miami
B. Lebron's biggest competition from Cleveland is Drew Carey.

Miami just changed the county's name to Wade-County for a week, they definitely want him here. The fan base is kind of iffy (mostly because of all the transplants), but it's hard to go out for a day and not run into at least 2 or 3 people rocking a Wade or Heat jersey.

South Florida is mainly a Football area, but they love the Heat. Anyone from Miami can tell you that.

Its funny, because I live in South Florida too, and outside of the fact that I agree New York sports get a lot of play down here, I couldn't disagree more with the rest of this. I imagine you don't hang around very many Heat fans.

Wade is nearly as big in South Florida as Dan Marino was in his prime. Make no mistake about it. They're renaming the friggin county after him.

But this is what I hate about South Florida. Sports fans from other parts of the country (Chicago, New York etc) all move down here, and then act like they don't understand why South Florida fans don't care. Its because a lot of South Floridians are transplants! You answer your own question.

The people who live down here, who grew up here, they worship Wade. I'll be a Heat fan no matter where he goes. But this notion that South Florida just won't care is complete BS.

Exactly.

And let me tell you that most Miami residents feel the same exact way. Wade is the biggest thing to happen to South Florida since Marino.

Watching from the sidelines? Who haven't we interviewed outside of Amare (who we apparently don't want in the first place) that you deem it necessary to say we are watching from the sidelines?

Yeah, the Bulls are definitely pushing.

I can't blame them, either. When talent is available, no matter what chance you have at getting them, you are supposed to inquire about it.

Our (Orlando Magic) GM called NO a few weeks ago to ask about Chris Paul when there were rumors going on about him being traded. We knew we had little to no chance of actually prying him away, but you still have to try.

Remember that one poster who said he knew of a FA that wanted to sign in Chicago if the Bulls were interested (I think his name was Tyrus or Tyson and then some number)?

He posted that it was Wade since he thought that it was moot at that point and that the Bulls had moved on to LeBron and that Wade had therefore moved on with Miami.

Supposedly Wade is his neighbor or something like that.

TyrusRose *something* - and yes, he said they were neighbors.

LMAO at West Palm being "in the thick of things". That's not Miami, buddy. And I actually do have friends who are Heat fans. And they would agree with what I wrote wholeheartedly. I never once disputed that there aren't loyal Heat fans. If you guys read my post in its entirety you'd have seen me actually state that. However, there aren't that many of you guys. And you don't have a large loyal fanbase. Otherwise, it wouldn't be difficult to fill out your stadium.

Your sales reps are incredibly aggressive, by the way. I bought a few tickets on the first level not far from the Bulls bench (I was sitting like a row from Steve Schanwald that night, actually) and a guy from the Heat ticketing office was calling me every few days for like a month to try to get me to buy a package of season tickets after I continually told him I wasn't interested. So I'll give your FO credit for trying to fill the stadium. But in no way is Wade this huge icon that Heat fans make him out to be.

You guys are completely missing the point on what I'm saying here. Wade is an icon to Heat fans. He is not a huge icon to the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area as a whole because the average person here doesn't give a hoot about sports. And the ones that do are more invested in football than anything else. I don't know how you can dispute that. If you've grown up in this area you should know that.

Ironically, on the Sunshine network, they are airing the Heat/Bulls 2OT '09 game (the one with the Wade 3 point buzzer beater at the end).

Trying to ease fans minds?
