surprise surprise :o

The only way we would have signed Dirk is to get rid of LB or do S&T with Amare, Frye and Warrick only take up 10M, even if we didn't sign them, Dirk's 20M would be a farcry.

that doesnt matter, are you saying if u are amare ur gonna take the max and cancel out all possible chances to sign another good player to help your team even though you dont deserve it,or just take a little less money to help your team

Even with Dirk taking less, it only saves em 16M over the next 4 yrs. They have no room to sign anyone this yr or probably next but only for MLE or min type players. Only way they;ll get REAL help is if they use non-guaranteed Damp contract with expirings and 1st rd picks (if they have any left).

Same thing with us. Amare signing for less won't help us get anyone. It might over next few yrs, but he's 27 looking for his next and only big deal left. Why would he take it?

Yes but with as many injuries and surgeries that Amare has had. Dirk is in far better shape. And Dirk is a MUCH better player and person.

It was said before the playoffs even ended that Dirk planned to opt out so he could resign for less so the Mavs could sign a good free agent. Maybe Amare should think about that as well instead of being a moron.

They can't sign anyone of impact by signing Dirk to a smaller deal (see my post above yours after that original post you quoted). It's all fluff and talk by taking less. Dallas' only options are through trades.

I don't know why anyone would call Amare a moron for bolting.

The decision to end negotiations comes despite the public posturing the past few weeks that indicated that Stoudemire wanted to return to Phoenix. However, sources say that Stoudemire's desire to leave Phoenix dates back to the tough negotiations he had with Suns owner Sarver in Februrary. Stoudemire's camp knew that it was highly unlikely that Sarver would offer Stoudemire a five-year deal at max numbers and Stoudemire has been worried that even if he did, he'd gut the rest of the team to pay for it.
