Josh Smith Available

Post#1 » by Micrew18 » Sun Jul 4, 2010 4:04 am

Alright guys. I'm a Raps fan and also a huge fan of Josh Smith. Who wouldn't be? Anyways, I heard somewhere that the Hawks want to put Horford at the 4. Is that true and if so would that possibly mean Josh Smith is available? Just let me know please and who'd you think would the Hawks take for Josh Smith (possibly through a three team S&T with Bosh)

Would you do Hedo for Josh straight up?

Lol. But in all seriousness (is that a word?) I'd like to get Derozan, Bosh doesn't really make sense if we keep Horford. Maybe :
Derozan
Bargani
Jarret Jack
for
Smith
Marvin Williams
Hawks lineup:
C- Bargani
PF- Horford
SF- Derozan
SG- Joe, Crawford,
PG- Teague, Jack
Then the Hawks could trade Bibby
I'm to lazy to calulate the if this is within the cap, but I would do that deal.

Talking to the wrong person about DeRozan. Lol. As a fan I wouldn't mind giving Bargnani and Jack for Josh Smith plain and simple. But I was thinking more on the lines of Bosh S&T and Marvin Williams to Houston and Atlanta gets Ariza Scola and Jordan Hill plus one of the NYK picks Houston owns for Smith and Williams. Toronto getting Josh Smith, Battier, Jeffries and the other NYK pick.

So:
ATL gets Ariza, Scola, Hill, future 1st rounder
Toronto gets: Smith, Battier, Jefferies, 1st rounder
Houson gets: Williams, Bosh

This doesn't make much sense for the Hawks. Why? Scola would sit behind Horford and we don't get any center in the deal. That would also be ALOT for Houston to give up.
How about:
ATL gets:
Ariza, Bargani, Landry, future 1st from Houston
Hou gets:
Williams, Bibby, Bosh
TOR gets:
Smith, 1st from Houston, Battier

Pretty sure Josh isnt on the block. Hedo doesnt fit here anyways unless Marvin is traded.
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

Sounds pretty good but Landry doesn't play for the Rockets anymore... :-?
I also feel Toronto may be able to get more for Bargnani than just an expiring in Battier..but overall decent trade.

Josh is better than Horford, but if a deal had to be done

SnT Bosh, Jack and a protected pick for Josh, Zaza, and Bibby would be close to fair.

Josh probably is available but only for the right target and that would be a PG or C upgrade. Toronto doesn't have the pieces to do it because I don't believe Calderon is held in high esteem here. A three way with Houston could make sense, but so could a deal directly with Houston. The problem is that Houston's most movable pieces are small forwards so we'd have to have another deal to land a C.

Al Jefferson for Josh Smith.

MN gets the athletic 3/4 they need. Atlanta gets the low post monster that lets them move Horford to 4.

If these Bozo's were to give JJ 119mil, then trade Josh Smith they can just move this team next, because I'm not watching that boring product!!

We have to explore all Crawford and Marvin trade before including Josh or Al.

So you guys basically think that the Hawks would be willing to trade Josh Smith only if Marvin Williams is included and you guys get a good low post player?

Josh Smith is not on the trading block... def. not for Hedo, Al Jefferson or Ariza/Scola. The only way Josh Smith is being traded is if Atlanta gets a prominent center or point guard.

Josh Smith would be last player that I would ever trade from Hawks. Love Big Al from days at Florida but J Smoove has many great years left for the Hawks. With Joe back and Smith and Horford the core let's get some more players and contend for a "C''ship" very soon.

Go Hawks

Although having an Al Jefferson type will probably mean we can make do without a center... Horford and he would be a bit more interchangeable with who they guard..

Will probably be in each others way a bit on the other end though.

I would trade a package with Horford to get Bosh here...so I'd really like to do a Horford/Marvin type package. However, I think Raptors probably want Smith...I would be willing to trade Josh to get Bosh here too. If we're giving up Smith, I'd wanna get rid of Marvin or trade Bibby for Calderon in the same deal.

Smith/Marvin/Bibby for Bosh/Calderon gets it done for me.

If ownership doesn't care about costs, we'd have a phenomenal product to offer - Horford/Bosh/Johnson and Crawford would be sick and able to compete with any team in the east.

I hope JJ is on the phone right now telling Bosh he'd be a great fit here.

IMO, either we are going to stick with what we've got because of the athleticism at 3, 4, & 5 and not worry about size; or we are going to adjust to a more traditional lineup. If the latter is to be adopted, the odd man out would have to be Smoove. Yes, he's a dynamic athlete and probably should be an all-star, but he's potentially the catalyst for all things good and bad on our team and is a tweener in respect to his position. What he brings to the team one minute is energy and exciting playing style that is extremely difficult to stop. However, the next minute he's talking back to the coach, walking back up the court instead of getting back on D, and has been described by some as the reason this team doesn't play for each other. He's dynamic on defense with shotblocking and rebounding but is rather limited on offense because of his poor shooting and lack of a post-up game.

Perhaps there's a way to make things work as it is, but I'm inclined to see what we could get for Josh. For one, I think Childress would consider coming back to us without Woody or Smoove. But we might be able to get a decent C in return for him who would better compliment Horford. If we got a solid defensive/rebounding center, Horford could shine on offense, and we would be better at defending Dwight Howard and other solid bigs in the league. It just can't be a trade for anyone. We need someone that will truly help. Otherwise, it makes more sense to go with what we've got.

Would the Hawks be interested in the old Kaman for Smith swap as part of a three-way deal?

This would get them an all-star center, and finally a real center to pair up with Al.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
