Now why couldn't I come home and read a headline like 'David Lee storms out of meeting with Timberwolves' :nonono:

I wish I could read Kahn's mind. The man has me completely confused.

Hey all....

Sure, some of the NY fans like Rubio and I am one of them. I will say that I do not see him as any kind of superstar, I just think he is the perfect PG for D'Antoni and the roster he is putting together. These are my opinions only. Rubio's value around the league is not near what Minny fans have it and that is pretty typical of most fan bases and their players, including our own. Again, my own interpretation of his situation is that he is stalling, trying to force a trade. I have read what Kahn says, what Rubio says, and what Rambis says, and although I have read about and understand his current contract and buyout situation, it seems to me that he does not want to play there. Again, this is my opinion only and I am not saying it is because he wants to play in NY. It just seems that he does not want to play in Minnesota.

As far as Lee, he really will be a top PF for somebody. He has a single weakness, which is defense and he has pledged to work on it this summer. All I can tell you is that he was considered a very good man to man defender of PFs in college and has dramatically improved whatever facet of the game he has concentrated on. His numbers are not due to the system. He has ALWAYS be a top rebounder per minute regardless of coach or system (and there have been a few). He is a legitimate 20/12/4 guy. It would not have broken my heart to see him stay but the FO felt they needed to go another way in order to have a chance at one of the biggest fish.

I don't regularly watch your team as I don't have the NBA package but it seems like Lee would become the best player as soon as he was signed. That is not meant as a slam but I'm not a fan of Jefferson and just think Lee is better than Love, who I also like. Most of your other guys are too young to judge.

I suspect that Kahn will not want to be shut out of Free Agency and will look to make some sort of splash in order to squelch some of the criticism the media has been doling out. I think its the wrong motive but I have seen teams do it time and time again. Minnesota will become the "other" team I root for because of the SU connection. Wes is a GOOD one.

If there is one person you should trade, it's Rambis and the triangle offense. Flynn would suprise you in a traditional offense.

Blah blah blah.

You should just leave because no one is going to like what you have to say when you say Rubio isn't coming here for no good reason other then an opinion.
I don't like to read books a message board either.

You guys really ARE jerks

Post#108 » by alphad0gz » Sun Jul 4, 2010 3:10 pm

I thought it was just a few. I never suggested ANY trade. I posted what I had read, that's all. You guys seem to think that all the guys you have are all that and the bottom line is that most of your roster wouldn't ever start on a contending team except as a role player. NY and Minnesota were in the same basic place a few weeks ago but trying to grow in different ways. All you guys talking about big FA signings really look foolish now...just like everyone knew you would.

I came here just to talk ball and discuss things that might impact both of our teams and to give you some realistic insight about the player you are rumored to be interested in. Stay in your own little cocoons, seems you like it like that. Minnesota nice, my butt.

Yes as if anyone on your team would start for a contender. I don't think anyone here was expecting us to be major players in free agency, but if you want to say that then you can keep throwing useless and uninformed claims out there.

Realistic insight on who? Rubio? Like you know anything about him or his situation here. We know what to expect from him once he's here. lol Minnesota is beautiful, have you ever been here? Enjoy New York and that lovely smell of the city..

I don't think he is stalling - yet. His decision to stay in Spain was financial and was due more to his draft position than Minnesota specifically. That said, I'm sure he wasn't too keen on joining a Timberwolves team featuring Pavlovic, Pecherov, Wilkins, etc. Kahn's task this year is to build a team that Rubio will want to play on. I don't think it has to be a playoff team this year but he does need to show that he has a vision and the team has potential and will be a fun place to play. If, after this year, the Wolves are as bad a last year and Rubio doesn't opt out to come over, then things will probably turn ugly.

As for Rubio being valued higher here than elsewhere, I think that is true. He's valued higher by Kahn than any fan on this board, though. That is why these trade Rubio threads never go anywhere good. Kahn will not trade Rubio until Rubio comes out and says "I will not play in Minnesota ever".

Could anyone see Kahn trading Jefferson for S+T Lee

I think it could easily happen and it wouldn't make me happy since
1) Jefferson is a lot better player IMO
2) Lee is going to get very overpaid this offseason.

moss, alphad0gz didn't say anything in his first post to warrant an attack, imo. He stated his opinion and I think there is a bit of truth to it, as I stated above. Let's try not to escalate things if we don't have to.

My insight was about David Lee

Post#117 » by alphad0gz » Sun Jul 4, 2010 4:13 pm

I have watched his entire pro Career, nearly every game. Rubio was my opinion and I said as much. I never said ANYTHING about Minnesota good or bad. I'm sure it IS nice. I live in upstate NY, in the heart of the Finger Lakes region. As nice as your state may be, I don't think you want to be comparing the natural beauty of whatever areas you have, to the Adirondacks, the Catskills, the Allegheny Mountains, the Finger Lakes, the Ithaca Gorges, or any other of many places that stun the senses with their beauty. NY taxes are what sucks but I read that Minnesota is now top ten in that, too. Use Google Images if you feel the need.

BTW, I am not a fan of NYC, myself.

Thanks Alpha for the insight on Lee.

I might be alone in this, but despite our Love for well.... Love, Lee is still a solid upgrade in terms of athleticism and defense (he at least has the lateral quickness to stay in front of stretch fours). He is also a better passer (long outlet passes aside).

It will take a 3rd team to do a s&t for Lee. Ny only wants Rubio or Johnson and our whole point in getting someone like Lee is to work with those guys. Its true that by the time Rubio starts hitting his prime, lee will be past, but I got to believe that we will be trading Love for either Favors or more ikely Randolph to completely remake our front court and have a young pf/c that matures with Rubio.

In sum... Al Jeff for Lee S&T (through a third team) and Love + to NJ for Favors or straight swap of Love/Randolph.

Wolves still in the mix for Lee ---

Lee's agent Mark B. in text: "Been talking to Kahn all day... as well as a bunch of other teams... a lot going on. Can't get too specific.
