The ASG is rapidly ruining my vacation

Post#1 » by azuresou1 » Sun Jul 4, 2010 5:52 pm

Hey guys, I'm in Vienna right now, and just finished a weeklong Mediterranean code. I was pretty relaxed and well rested, and in a pretty good state. Then I decided to log on to RealGM for a bit... and lo and behold we just offered the worst FA contract in recent memory, worse than Gilbert, Shard, or Brand.

I guess it's my fault to expect the ASG could manage to NOT ruin everything over a week-long period.

Arenas contract was by far the worst....followed by Brand. Joe probably moves comfortably into 3rd on the list.

Arenas and Brand were both massively overpaid considering they were coming off injuries, but both of them could at least at the time have made an argument that they could be legitimate #1s on a winning team. Joe Johnson is quite clearly a #2 at best, something that is evident to everyone but the ASG.

Heck, Brand's contract was both shorter and for less money than Joe Johnson's albatross of a contract (5/80 vs 6/120).

I bet the ASG ends up trading Horford and other assets just to shed Joe Johnson 3 years from now.

I'll take that bet. :D

As long as Joe stays healthy, which I really, really hope he will. We should remain a playoff team. Enjoy.

Joe will also be tradeable in a few years if necessary as well.

Keep in mind, he was definitely getting the max from NY, NJ, or Chicago. We just added an extra year.

And best of all, you're not writing the checks. Enjoy ur vaca.
