I want Rubio for Parker

There, i said it, LOL. If Spurs could get Rubio's rights for Tony Parker in a 3-ways deal with TWolves and Knicks i would do it.

Why? I have seen what George Hill can do as a starter next to Manu and i think Spurs is not a much better team with Parker instead of Hill. Hill adds a much better defense and he is a better fit next to Manu mainly, because he is more willing to pass him the ball, LOL.

I know Rubio is not coming to the NBA this season but i prefer to have him for the future and start Hill and try to restore Jefferson's career if he is in fact signing a 5 years deal over keeping Parker in a possible 1-year rental.

Rubio's rights just are not enough return for Parker. We want to compete next year not stockpile overseas prospects.

The thing is i dont think Spurs get better with Parker instead of Hill and i cant imagine of a trade that would dramatically increase Spurs chances of winning this season. I think the best way for Spurs to get better this season is to restore Jefferson's career if he is staying.

I want Rubio because i think he looks like a Spurs type of player and with him there could be something else after Duncan.

If we move Parker for Rubio, then IMO we should just go ahead for the rebuilding process. Give Duncan the respect he deserves and let him finish his career playing on a contending team. Trade Manu for whatever we can get. Start the rebuild.

Me, I'm saying hell no to this trade. I'm giving it one more year before we make any changes to the big 3.

I don't think thats the case. I think Hill is ready to step up and i really like Hill-Manu backcourt.

I agree that Hill is ready to step up. But if we're gonna deal TP we need to get back players that are going to have an impact for us next season. We're trying to win now, not build for the future.

If Jefferson signs a 4 or 5-years deal, i think Spurs should try to get him more involved in offense instead of going for someone else.

And Spurs could get more pieces with the full MLE and the $14M TE.

What's the point? RJ signing out was huge for the Spurs because it helps them get below the tax to be able to pay guys like Splitter. If we end up giving Parker for Trade Exception, then why not just let Jefferson go? What's the point anymore? If Rubio was a guy who's gonna play this year, it'll make sense for us, but then it won't make sense for Minnesota.

And, I really doubt Minnesota trades Rubio for Parker. Rubio is younger and at this point has far more potential and will be signed into a cheap long term deal. Parker is a superior player but also an expiring contract that will make Minnesota looks extremely stupid if it ends up being a one year rental and Parker bolts. Plus, Minnesota are still saying they want to run the Triangle Offense. That's obvious judging by their saying things like David Lee fits perfectly into our offense and all that. Anybody here seriously thinks Parker will excel in the Triangle? I don't. It's an equal opportunity offense and it's hard to learn in his 1st year. I doubt Parker is happy to stay in a team where he feels is not suited best for his talents.

I assume that if Jefferson signs a long term deal with Spurs it will be because he agreed with them to decline his PO in order to sign a long-term deal. Otherwise, Spurs would not sign him long-term.

I assume the same thing with Jefferson but you also have to assume that if the Spurs resign Manu last year and now sign Jefferson to a long term deal then that means we're still trying to become a championship team.

Re-signing Manu is a sign toward that. Signing Jefferson back to a longer but shorter contract is a sign towards that. Signing Splitter is a sign toward that. Trading Parker for your supposed Ricky Rubio? Not a sign of that.

Anyways, Spurs are not going to do some surprising move this season IMO. The only fact that could make a change in that is if Parker definitly doesn't want to play in SAS next season, so they could trade his expiring contract.

Rubio would be a good fit to SAS now or a couple of years ago, but when he arrives to the NBA, we will probably be rebuilding the team and maybe SAS style change a little bit..

Rubio is a good fit later when he arrives. How can Rubio be a good fit in San Antonio when he's not even gonna be playing this year. That's just another year of wasting Manu and TD's years. And it's not like they have many more years left in them.

I personally don't mind trading Parker for Rubio if Rubio is actually playing in the NBA this upcoming season. It'll be better for the future. At the same time, then we still have to trade George Hill. If we trade Parker for Rubio, it's not to make way for George Hill. Rubio will be our future PG.
