Joe Johnson gets max contract, not good for Jazz

Post#1 » by jazzfan1971 » Sun Jul 4, 2010 8:07 pm

Because Boozer will be able to point to that contract to justify a max contract. Not to mention a few other overpaid contracts so far.

The only thing I can see going for the Jazz is that Boozer seems to be almost an afterthought for all the teams with cap room. I always thought that folks on here underrated him, but, it appears that real life GMs aren't that bully on him either.

I guess with JJ off the market that Boozer might see himself elevated up the list a bit.

That's good for sign and trade possibilities, since it means the demand for Boozer (if he is valued as much or comparably to JJ) is high, and thus teams would be willing to part with assets to obtain him. This can only mean good things for the Jazz imo.

Although it honestly doesn't impact Boozer much, since JJ's signing was more about the Hawks paranoia of losing him with nothing to show for it than his true market value. The hawks had to keep him to remain remotely competitive, thus they overpaid. The market for PFs who don't play D is not as strong.

I hope NJ wants him on a six year max contract and are willing to give us Favors to get him.

Not a chance. Courtney Lee would be more realistic, if the Jazz want him...

Ok... Joe Johnson have just saved the Knicks from themselves... he preferred to f**k his own Hawks instead! :)
Some dudes just never learn... Dolan and Walsh were prepared to spend all their money in Amare "one_season_ marvel" Stoudemire and Joe "the_ball_is_mine_to_inflate_my_statline" Johnson.... lol at them... the very "theory of eternal recurrence" incarnated in NY city....

Yeah, if Joe Johnson deserves a max deal, Boozer deserves one. Of course, if Rudy Gay gets a max deal, then Sundiata Gaines deserves one.

This is a non-issue. Boozer is gone. I agree with LJ. I hope someone overpays him and gets stuck with someone missing 40% of his playing time with them.

I hope the best for Boozer. He made us a considerably better team for the 5 years he was here, and he was fun to root for in the playoffs even if he did say some of the dumbest things I've heard as a sports fan.

I dont see how our competition spending max-money on non-max players is bad for the Jazz.

As for Boozer...happy trails. Time to move on. Good player but not worth overpaying for.

If the Jazz were able to get Courtney Lee in a S&T, doesn't that make Wes Matthews expendable?

I think it makes Courtney Lee expendable.

In other words, I don't see the Jazz going after Courtney Lee in a S&T.
