I don't think you can call it a bad trade just yet. Roenicke has been very impressive in Vegas and could be our closer some day. Zach Stewart just had a good June and is still one of our top prospects so the jury is still out on the Rolen trade IMO

Yeah, I don't consider the return unimpressive at all. If Stewart develops as a starter, it will have been well worth it.

And more than anything, it served the team's purpose of getting rid of his contract for a lesser one (E5).

Unless he goes on a massive, peak like tear the next 4-5 years I just can't see it. Both his peak and his career numbers just don't stack up for a 3B and HOF voters have ignored defense in most cases.

Chipper Jones is in for sure though.

Bad? No. We did get a prospect of some value, so it's not like we got totally zonked. Unimpressive so far, like I said? Yep.

I liked the Rolan trade at the time because it was one of the first times JP ever sold high and bought low in a trade. So at least his thought process was right for once.
