No doubt he has earned it but 5 mil? Come on man. Laker fans are all over his ass about him being our weakness as is the media. I feel fully comfortable saying that Derek Fisher is part of the reason we get put in into situations where you need a clutch shot from him in the first place. Fisher and Nash are pretty much equals in the age department and Nash is getting 10 mil a season. If Fisher wants the Lakers to give him 5 mil he needs to give them at least half of what Nash does on a regular basis. That is my take on it. I honestly didn't think Derek Fisher would act like this when it came to contract negotiations.

Most teams in the NBA dont run the triangle(Lakers, Minnesota and ???).
Fisher is a triangle PG. He dose not have to dribble must just be a solid shooter.

I dont see him playing for another team. I is not fast, he is not quik, he is not big, he cant drive, he is a clutch shooter and a leader.

I say give the man a 2/$8m contract.
Yes it is to mutch but we are also telling him that THANK You for what you have done for us. I think 2/$6m is fair.

I want Fisher back, he wants back, Lakers want him and his is Kobe best friend. I think he will be a Lakers player next season.

I really hope we don't lose El Presidente. The thing with Fisher is he fouls or flops beautifully on nearly every play, that stuff is invaluable. As well it leaves the LAL with just Kobe to hit the big boy shots. If my math is correct that's three lost intangibles.

I agree, nobody says he sucks. He's just not worth 5 mil!! PERIOD. I could careless what he did in the playoffs etc etc nonsense. He did his job. If were going to credit him and pay him for those game then should we fine him for the game he screwed up or lost for us. It doesnt make sense.
He's signed with the Lakers to win and do his job. So since he came through for us in games in the past we need to over pay him for what he is really worth?? He is not a 5 mil a year player. NO WAY WILL THE LAKERS DO THAT.

2 years 7 mill is fair. Fish's contract shouldn't see north of 2 years and should be at most 4 a year. But 4 a year is overpaying IMO. 3.5 a year is more than fair for FIsh. I would personally like to see it at 6 for two years..... FIsh brings A LOT of intangibles to this team. As a pair, Fish and Kobe compliment eachother perfectly as leaders. Kobe leads by example and is very tough on his team. FIsh is the vocal leader and keeps everyone grounded and focused. The most important thing Fish brings to this team is that he's the ONLY player on this team that Kobe listens to. Kobe admitted that. As we've seen countless time Kobe can get wrapped up in the game and try to take over to much or to early. FIsh is the only one that can pull him aside and tell him; "Hey.... move the ball... let's get some other guys going". And Kobe will listen to him. If Farmar or Shannon Brown said that Kobe would laugh in their face and probably not pass them the ball.

With the signing of Blake I would like to see Fish''s minutes drastically cut. He'll probably start. (at least for this year) but with Blake getting the bulk of the minutes. Eventually Fish is going to have to make the transition to the bench. However when it is crunch time in the 4th quarter in the playoffs; Fish should be in. When it's regular season and Blake is outplaying him five ways to sundays... FIsh should be benched. Fish's role will eventually start to mirror that of Robert Horry's on the Spurs during their runs. He'll come in and play during the fourth quarter and hit big shots to seal the game 8-)

wow F him. 5 million a year? fish is not a starter. his role is like sam cassell's role when he was with the celtics. a veteran player off the bench. therefore he should not get more than what cassell got when he singed with the celtics.

Lakers have his bird rights, right? So theoretically they could sign him for whatever they want regardless of being over the cap?

The Cavs want every free agent, it seems like. When they had LBJ, they wanted to trade for every superstar. They should worry about #6 before they try to take a guy who is winning Championships where he is.

sign fish or you'll regret it.

Kobe will be asking for a trade next year.

It will cause chaos.

sign him!

bad Kharma not to sign him for all he has done.

Return to Los Angeles Lakers
