I would be happy with Shannon Brown, Matt Barnes, Josh Childress, or Ronnie Brewer.

Ryan Gomes is more Power Forward than Small Forward, he is a tweener stuck between positions, unable to guard quicker small forwards, no handles to create on the wing but lacks height to play as a big...

He is a tough hard worker with a decent mid range jumper but thats about it, if your expecting him to become a full time small forward and lock down quicker wing players your in for a surprise..

I'm not sure where or when he became a small forward but as long as i've watched him he has played mostly as an undersized PF....

He played the 3 in Minny as far as I know. You could be right about him being a tweener as that was the case in Boston, but hes pretty good defensively.

In any way, Im hoping for childress as hes available.

Can Brewer play the point? I think it was him that was a PG/SG coming out of college

I hope it isn't Ryan Gomes. I'd be okay with either Matt Barnes or Ronnie Brewer or Childress though.

Either way I don't think this is a good thing because it probably means the return for Bosh is going to be meaningless to the team. I was hoping getting a large TPE would mean we would go out and grab a quality player. Now it seems roster spots are being accounted for. It also means these deals from HOU and CLE etc. where we get multiple players is not in the works.

I mean, I would think we would have to know what is happening with Bosh before making a move, this may mean we have given up on a S&T.

my first choices would be Matt Barnes, Shannon Brown, Ronnie Brewer

i think we should stay away from Reddick tho.. scoring has never been a problem for us and we need more players who can bring it on the defensive end

I think Reddick plays the game well and would be a good pickup for us.

I'm thinking Brewer for D or Reddick for three point shooting. Scoring might be a bigger problem next season since Bosh is gone and our three point shooting declined last year. We need a strong bench wing who can either shoot the 3 or go in and tighten the D. Barnes is a bit of both, but I suspect he goes back to Orlando.

Kleiza isn't supposed to be returning to the NBA this season, probably next season.
Childress would try to get more than a full MLE
Shannon Brown would at to the glut at the two.
Gomes is a tweener, doesn't fill a need exactly.
Haywood will get paid in an $8-10m range.

Given the list of players available, I'm really hoping it's Shannon Brown. The guy has crazy athleticism, can play the PG spot (especially if we're keeping Hedo) and can drive to the hoop at will. He has all the tools to be a difference maker, and a back court of Brown and DeRozan would be ridiculously fun to watch.

He's also only 24 (turns 25 this year), so a 5 year MLE deal would keep him with us through his prime.
I think it's a solid investment.

I would be happy to not sign any of those scrubs and instead focus on developing the scrubs who already have contracts with us. ;)

Shannon Brown is not a PG nor does he have a great bball IQ. Theres more to basketball than flashy dunks.

Antoine Wright... haha just kidding.

I wonder if this is just Doug making stuff up again, but I want Brewer, Brown, Reddick, or Raja Bell.

All these guys sound good, but imagine the press conference for JJ Reddick at the max MLE contract. All these bench players before we have starters sorted out.

That is 8 M away fronm luxury tax

I think This would mean there is no Bosh Sign and trade to a team over the cap ( as we would have to take back 13. ) And I don't see us having a payroll around 74 M and well into the luxury tax

Yeah good point, unless they had places to pawn off that incoming salary already.

From that list, I'd take Ronnie Brewer. Elite defender from the Utah Jazz thats going to get near the MLE.

Keeping my fingers crossed in hopes that Ronnie Brewer's our man. Scoring may not come as easy next year, but I'm a firm believer in prioritizing defense over offense; especially when we've been such a lackluster team on the defensive end over the past few. It's all about the personnel, and adding a piece such as Brewer to our core makes sense with the direction Colangelo is going in with this team. We're not building a contender over night, so adding a piece here and there which addresses a need is great for the direction of the team. When and if we ever become contenders, players like Amir, Jack and hopefully Brewer are going to be key to our success.

I respect your opinion, since Brown isn't a true pg, but I'd really appreciate you not misquoting me like that. Brown isn't amazing on defense, but he can't be any worse than what we've had from Calderon the past few years.
