I don't really like anyone at that price. Mike Miller. Or Raja Bell for 2 years. Klieza or Childress. Other moves would have to be made.

Say no to Shannon Brown and Ryan Gomes. They aren't better than what we have.

As we speak, this man is walking to BC's office to sign a contract:

We need a 3 point shooter & we need a rebounder. This man does it all.

Full MLE baby.

Highly doubt Morrow would sign for the MLE and pretty sure Golden State wouldn't let him go.

If we signed Childress for only the MLE then I think that's a an incredible value in terms of what he has the potential to do on the court.

From a rebuilding perspective though that's a different story. As others have said, what are we trying to do right now? Be competitive enough to narrowly miss the playoffs, or are we in rebuild mode? Childress isn't capable of becoming a superstar and turning the ship around obviously but I do think he's the kind of player who'd be capable of heping us win more games than I'd like to next year if we're in rebuild mode. Unless, of course, we want him to be the token veteran who's been around the league and overseas to help guide some of the younger guys over the next few years. I suppose every team needs some solid veterans with integrity off the court. It's rare you see a team go almost entirely 25 and under and Childress is the perfect age to be a productive veteran that will be able to contribute for many years to come.

Childress at the MLE would be a very, very good value in terms of basketball production at that salary but I question our overall direction if such a move was made.

Yup, we're re-building with no true stars on the team... giving MLE to anyone of those players is absolutely foolish.

The question BC should be asking himself is, should he waste the MLE on a player that can help us to a 25-30 win season or should he split it more conservatively on several players to put together a 20-win roster that will get a super draft pick next year.

On second thought (I was hoping we'd go after Brewer or Childress), I 'll bet it's a shooter. Morrow, Reddick or Korver are my guesses. Reddick's worth more than the MLE in my opinion.

Have people not learned their lesson from Hedo.

Hitting spot up 3s or defending perimiter players tends to be a bit eaiser when you are throwing the ball to Howard in the post or having Howard block the shots of guys who beat you compared to the current Raptors center who shall remain nameless.

Giving Reddick the MLE would be a giant mistake on this team.

i really hope its MATT BARNES!!!!
This guy would change the image of our team by giving us the toughness and defense we've always needed. He's tough. he's scrappy, and he's not afraid of anyone. If Matt Barnes was to sign with us, I wouldnt be opposed to trying to resign Bosh. Matt Barnes is not a star but he'd be a difference maker for this team.

We'd then have to trade Jose&Turk for something decent; then trade our expirings and future draft picks for Collison and Posy.

Collison/Jack
Derozan/Belinelli
Barnes/Weems/Posy
Bosh/Davis
Bargnani/Amir

+players from jose/turk trade

I have no problem with overpaying the right guy. So far with Hedo and Kapono he has not overpaid the right guys. JJack was a great signing though. Get the right guy and no one should care what you paid them.

Talking about potential, there aren't too many players who have potential and deserve the MLE. But one player that has impressed me every season (besides last), is Kelenna Azubuike. He is a SG/SF hybrid who played some PF in GSW, and can be a solid starter for us. His per 36 stats are too impresive to pass on imo.

I like Azubeke alot, but the question remains, will that crazy injury effect his play going forward.
I'll throw him on our wish list, but this is who i want (in order):

#1. Matt Barnes
#2. Azubeke
#3. Brewer

That's how I'm viewing this too.

I think any competitive team with problems at the SF spot would love to snag Josh Childress at the MLE. His last year in the NBA at age 24 he put up a PER near 18 and pulled down close to 6 boards per game at the SF spot, including over 2 offensive rebounds per game. We can laugh all we want about him not being a star but that's still pretty special, especially at the MLE. The guy is no slouch on the defensive end of the court either.

And who knows? Perhaps playing overseas has made him even more assertive and aggressive?

Childress has enough talent to be a starting caliber SF on a lot of very good NBA teams. The problem of course is that we're not a good NBA team so is he wasted here during a rebuild?

I'd like Childress if we are going to do it. Good all around player, good team guy. I'm not sure he comes though b/c I'm sure he's going to want minutes and unless we move Hedo... i'm not seeing the minutes

This could all be a smokescreen though. I'm not sure we do anything until we know what we're getting back for Bosh, unless we know it's going to be close to nothing.

How come no one is really paying attention on Korver? He can get rebounds while also be able to shoot 3s. Move Derozan to SF and slot Korver to SG. I think Korver fits BC's taste of players. He is simply an upgrade over Kapono.

For all the "rebuilders" out ther, we just brought in 9 new guys last year, how young do we need to get. Why the worry about us being competitive? Especially if before you wanted to keep Bosh. Don't be mistaken, their will be no concerted effort to tank. For all the OKC there are, there other teams who are just perennial lottery goers. I mean we just had two straight years of lottery picks. DeMar, Sonny, Amir, Jack, Alabi, Davis, Bargs, Doresy, all 25 or under aren't they? I'd say we have a good deal of youth already.

BC is in a contract year, he won't try to suck. He'll try to be as good as we can even better if possible. Last years goal will be this years goal.

There's no way it's Barnes. Barnes will go to a contender, not to a 30 win team.

You don't say?

(IOW, the fact that some of us feel strongly that there should be a rebuild in no way, shape, or form necessitates the belief that we will. Seeing what we want to happen as happening isn't a universal trait to 'rebuilders', but more to optimists.)
