Assume we could trade Al for cap space that would be used for Lee.

If it's just Al for Lee with no other moves, I don't see the point. Lee may fit a little better with Rambis' schemes but he's also older, is going to be more expensive than Al, doesn't fit with Love any better, and we would be better off playing Al and increasing his value for a later trade.

I don't know, Lee and Flynn could be dynamite in the pick and roll, but Jefferson can create points from the post a lot better. Whatever ends up happening, I'll probably be disappointed. I haven't really liked Kahn's direction so far, seems like we took a step back from where McHale had the team

Re: VOTE: Keep Jefferson or Trade for Lee?
My best case scenario for Al Jefferson is trading him to New Jersey in a package that gets us Favors. My second option is to keep him. My third option is to dump him for salary. My fourth option is to trade him for a lesser, more expensive, slightly better fitting player in Lee.

Re: VOTE: Keep Jefferson or Trade for Lee?
problem with this theory is that many do not see it as Lee vs Jefferson, but if our front office is invested in Lee it means love is out. That is a problem.

Why Love? Why not Pekovic?

Re: VOTE: Keep Jefferson or Trade for Lee?
A couple reasons.
1.) Pekovic would have had more trade flexibility as "rights" not as a contract. if we intended to trade him I believe we would have done it as rights.
2.) Pekovic can play the 4 and 5 which makes him more flexible in this system.
3.) Kahn has made comments about Pekovic's value/fit in this system but not Love. Other than Rambis with Love at the finals game Love has been pretty silent.
4.) Kahn seems to have an issue with players that were here before he was here.
5.) Love has higher value in the trade market (I would assume).
6.) Pekovic would not have an issue being the 3rd big 25min off the bench guy. Love seems to have an attitude with the bench role.
Just my thoughts.

wtf is Kahn doing that is all. Didnt expect huge things but this is terrible. If he moves AL and Love just to make room for David Fing Lee he is a bigger joke than I thought and I think he is a very korny joke

1) I wonder if this was just an issue of timing. Kahn might have had to get him signed or worry about him resigning in Greece. Also, perhaps I am wrong but if you trade him unsigned to a team he still has to be signed with cap space or an exception, so I don't think it's a hinderance at all.
2) I don't know if Pekovic can play the 4. I see him strictly as a 5. Perhaps when he's on the floor you can out Darko at the 4, but then Pek is still the 5 man. I think Lee is the player more apt to toggle b/t frontcourt spots, not Pekovic.
3) I think that is only because Love is already here and thus he was not prompted by similar questions from journalists such as asking about how Pekovic fits.
4) Or just players that don't fit the system he and Rambis are trying to run? I don't think it's rational to think he dislikes players just because they were here before he was.
5) True, but then we are also giving up more talent then we are getting back. Perhaps it merely depends what we could get in return.
6) If Pekovic is traded Love would certainly come off the bench, but I think he would still get 30 minutes a game. I think he has an attitude with the bench role when he's only playing 20 minutes or when a much worse player, i.e. Hollins, is starting in front of him.
_______
I think if we get Lee you might see us trade Pekovic for someone like Ariza.

Re: VOTE: Keep Jefferson or Trade for Lee?
You had me until Ariza.
The problem with Love v Pekovic is that with Love you will need to play undersized for some time with Love and Lee or Love and Jefferson. If we do not think Love/Jefferson can play together why would we think Love/Lee can?

I don't know if I'd go that far. I didn't like McHale's direction post KG, he didn't put enough emphasis on length and athleticism. With Kahn it's almost the exact opposite, too much emphasis on athleticism.

We certainly disagree on Ariza. I still see him as unfinished product.
My main issue with a Love/Jefferson tandem has never been that players seem to score over the top of them. I think that is a common misconception. My issues have always been that neither of them could guard a face up/perimeter player, neither made their rotations on defense, and neither could get back and prevent easy transition buckets. I think Lee can do all those things.

I think the intent all along was to make a step back. The Rubio trade was a clear indicator of this, as well as other trades to dump salary -- i.e. Songalia. The going forward process has just started this offseason and so far we have already solved two of our most important needs by adding two athletic shooting wingmen and legit size to our front court.

Obviously last year was a step back and I didn't have problem with, but this summer isn't as good as it could have been. At least so far.

Re: VOTE: Keep Jefferson or Trade for Lee?
Lee is considered a hard worker on defense. To be fair, many teams run a "second" line-up that is considered quicker with a face-up 4. Lee would have a better chance defending that type of player. This could also move me past my fetish for an athletic 3/4.
I will take your word on Ariza. I admit I am not his biggest fan. I see him as a very similar player then Brewer and on a bad contract. I know he is a younger guy (25?) and putting him back with Rambis could bring his development further. I am a sucker for EFF and TS type stats and Ariza crazy regressed going from LAL to Houston
EFG- 51.1----46.2
FT--71--64.9
3pt -31.9--33.4
TS-54.4--48.8
ft/fg- 20---15
Ast-r 16.9/9.3---18/10
reb--10----8.8
USG--15.6---20.2
PER--15.5--13.3
That is a crazy drop in production. We should have "why" concerns before looking to make a trade. That being said, supposedly, Houston is one of the teams that could be an option for Al. Have we explored an Ariza situation for an Al trade?
Al+Hollins
for
Ariza+Jeffries (Perhaps include a pick if I am off on value)

I've posted Al to Houston ideas with an eye on three players that would fit well here -- Ariza, Hill, and Budinger

There hasn't been a lot of movement for any team yet. We have no choice but to wait and see how the first free agent chips fall. Our hands are pretty much tied until a market for Al develops.

If you like Ariza then adding the ending contract of Jeffries should be our goal. Flexibility will be needed in the future.

Let's put it this way: I haven't agreed with many of the moves so far and I don't feel much better about the rumored ones. Maybe Kahn's just smarter than me. I hope so, I'm rooting for him.
