Sasha's contract will mean more at the deadline than it does now. People are also preparing for 2011 and midseason will bring some team we can toss our 2012 first rounder since it has to be alternate years, and not sure if we can already get out to 2014, but thats an asset, along with sasha and whoever makes cap sense for a player that has a long contract (3-4 yrs) that a team no longer wants to be committed to, that can help the lakers finish out this essential 3-5 year planned run of contracts. its also an expriing contract that can be paired with bynum/odom/etc if the lakers need to get that big for any reason. Also, he rarely even plays and it cant hurt he is in a contract year so although it would be nice to replace his low to mediocre play, its not hurting la.

I have a feeling sasha will land us another star or another key player like ariza-brian cook trade somewhere in the season then he'll get waived and we'll pick him up. :D

Owners are preparing for a lockout. Everyone seems to be hiding their heads in the sand.

We are stuck with Sasha amd his contract, as we are with Luke's.
I don't think anyone would trade for him unless we take back a horrendous contract, which I doubt we'll do.
The only way I can see Sasha in a trade is if he is part of a bigger deal, like with LO, which I definitely don't see happenning unless Toronto would give us Bosh for LO and Sasha in a S&T.

In other words, Sasha better be working his tail off in the off season to improve his outside shot since the Lakers will need his shooting next year and if he wants to get another deal after his contract expires.

I think he'll step up this season. It's a contract year plus Farmar and Brown gone frees up more minutes for him. I like the things he brings to our team when he's on. Which we all know is the 3pt shooting and pesky defense.
