LOL, he seems bitter. Although I do agree about the names though, why is Football called soccer when the sport is predominantly played using your feet. American football on the other hand is predominantly in the hands of the players. I never understood it and probably never will.

Well, the commercials are a bit overblown but if people tried to play professional basketball or american football for 45 minutes straight with no breaks like they do in soccer I think people would die or the game would just look slow and boring.

Necessary breaks in play have been exploited by marketeers to sell stuff. *shrug* Its just the way things are.

Even though in Am.Football the 'ball' is mostly carried and dealt with by hand, they even can't call it 'handball' because this is in use by another (less prominent) sport, at least in Europe.

So should they have called their sport if all the meaningful names are already taken ? Yardball ?

The clip's pretty funny as well even though it's obvious that a top notch Defensive or Offensive Co-ordinator is far more creative than any Coach waking the sidelines of a Football pitch. Advertising is a huge part of the game now-a-days but even without it there needs to be breaks in play as football is all about those 5-8 seconds of explosive action, kind of like Hockey where a player will only be on the ice for 45 seconds to a minute at a time.
