The Clippers should pursue this FA trifecta

Post#1 » by Clip34life » Fri Jul 2, 2010 4:43 pm

Mike Miller-Udonis Haslem-Ronnie Brewer.

If they can sign these three guys to about MLE deals each then they're golden. After that they can fill out their roster with min.level guys. Hopefully they would have enough to sign Sofo. If not, who cares. Here would be my roster.

PG: Davis/Mobley (min.)/Bledsoe
SG: Gordon/Brewer/ Warren
SF: Miller/AFA/Q-Rich (min.)
PF: Griffin/Haslem/Sofo
C:Kaman/Deandre

That team is loaded and would be a perennial playoff contender.

Miller wants to play for a contender and QRich is washed up.

If Miller won't play for the Lakers for MLE, he's not gonna play for us for that amount either.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him end up with the Lakers.

Mobley? We all just need to stop fantasizing of old Clippers coming back.

Brewer and Haslem wouldn't be a bad idea, but i agree with the Miller and Lakers point.

Lakers are out of the picture. We can offer a starting position.

When did Mobley become a PG?

I'm not a fan of Haslem, would much rather go after Miller, O'Neal (either), Ratliff or even Kwame before going for Haslem. Also would retain Rhino due to how much of a bruiser he was off the bench.

As far as Mobley, he should be added to the coaching staff ala Kareem was with the Lakers. Really think he would be a great tutor for Gordon & Warren (if he makes the roster), but as a player, he's done.

He played the PG role sparingly during his time here. Towards the end of his Clipper journey if I recall correctly. I can't remember if he did well though.

I had no idea we had that much interest in Mike Miller
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

My ideal trifecta would be Josh Childress/Ronnie Brewer/Brendan Haywood. Now Mike Miller is a better shooter/passer than Childress, but I like Childress' defense and he's younger. Brewer would be a great backup on the wing and Haywood is one of the best defensive big men in the league.

Childress & Brewer are definitely on my wish list. Haywood is a nice player to have, but would be more of a luxury than a necessity to us. We really need to fill in our holes on the wing, before adding a center that could have a big price tag.

Whoa i hope we get mike miller for something reasonable, then we should have enough left over to grab some good backups. Childress would be REALLY great imo (brewer would be ok, but i don't think him and baron could play at the same time, opposing teams would just stuff the paint completely.) Haywoods going to be out of reach i think, too many other teams will need a center (and we don't really need one).

They should look into a trade for a Small Forward. They can offer TPE to a team by absorbing the contract. They can take their time. But I do like the idea of Josh Childress on this team. Not so sure about Luol Deng.
