Not saying I agree with the logic but it would not surprise me if we went after him. I wouldn't mind him on the team, he could be a good back up.

I have always loved his game, used to watch him when he was in Boston and he was a very good player. He's also a good guy who would fit into the team culture here. Maybe use part of the TPE to get him because I don't think we can sign him and Matthews with the MLE.

We can't use a TPE to get him. He is a free agent who was waived by his last team (Portland). Once waived they don't have bird rights to resign him, so a sign and trade is pretty difficult.
