Nash and his contract.
Do you hear Nash bitching about his contract?
Nope!
Should he? Probably. Dude is making $10 million next year and $11 million in his final year.
Could he get a max deal from some team now? Probably.
Could he have gotten a max deal when he extended with us? For sure.

Re: Nash and his contract.
It's funny. Last year most people were saying he was overpaid. Now it's looking like an awesome deal. Same thing happened with Rondo.

I sure hope not
Nash is far too valuable, Beaubois and Dragic would be redundant and I prefer Dragic, and Caron would be a nice piece but Nash doesn't go in a deal for him.

Re: Nash and his contract.
Nash will do two things:
1. See how this year goes
2a. Ask for trade to a contender if we suck
2b. Stick it out for the remainder of his career if we exceed expectations at go deep in the playoffs again.

I think you are right. He's gonna stick out this year, but if we suck I think he may respectfully ask for a trade.

One thing here everybody....lets get a little perspective. We have changed out only 1 starter from our WCF team from a mere 8 weeks ago. Its likely we will also lose Lou, so that will be 2 people we will lose. Now, certainly we will feel their loss, but the sky is not falling, and the team has some more flexibility. I am certainly not happy about how the Amare situation went down or our FA situation has played out but we do still have some cards to play, and even if we don't losing Amare won't destroy us, it will just re-orient our game back to the perimeter again, change focus from Amare to RoLo on the PNR and get more shots for J-Rich. That is the worst that can happen.

I doubt Nash asks for a trade. Only way I see him getting traded is if Grant Hill is traded and Nash is pissed.

Re: Nash and his contract.
Hill is not going anywhere imo. Since the Suns medical staff saved and revitalized his career, as a big thank you to them I think rather than going to a team like the Lakers or Celtics or even Orlando again, Grant will play out his contract and then get a tv gig (which he is tailored made for). As for Nash I think he will do the same (i.e. retire when his contract is done) as I do not see him as the type to try and latch onto a title contender for the sake of winning a ring. Lets be real here, the Lakers are still the juggernaut out West and everyone else is a distant second.

Re: Nash and his contract.
Nash won’t seek trade
Amar’e Stoudemire’s(notes) departure won’t spur Steve Nash(notes) to seek a trade from the Phoenix Suns, a source close to Nash said.
“He likes the team chemistry in Phoenix and he is a confident guy no matter who he plays with,” the source said of Nash. “He’s looking forward to the challenge.”
To save addition money, the Suns will continue to try to trade guard Leandro Barbosa(notes). Barbosa is owed $7.1 million next season and has a player option for $7.6 million during the 2011-12 season. The Suns are pleased with young guard Goran Dragic(notes), which could make Barbosa more expendable.

Maybe now we can stop with the Nash trade ideas...at least for a while.

I died a little inside. Way to start out on this board by proposing a trade like that!

whoever thinks that Nash would ask for a trade obviously does not know what kind of human being the man is. Unlike 99.9% of NBA players, Steve is not a selfish thug or a punk and would not disrespect his fans, his teammates, his coaches, his franchise, the NBA, basketball or sports in general by doing such a low class thing that seems to become common in the world of sports today. Nash is way above doing something like that, and again, any one who does not comprehend that simply doesn't get what kind of person Steve is.

Re: Nash and his contract.
Nash has repeatedly stated that he is not interested in nor will he define his career with championships.
Unless he asks for a trade, in which case you send him wherever he damn well pleases at whatever it happens to costs... he retires a Sun. Plain and simple.
Nash has earned it.

Re: Nash and his contract.
when reporters asked why he would re-sign with the Suns last year, he said, yeah, you can go chasing a ring with different teams but it's still a crapshoot and balanced against staying here, where he was relationships and is part of building something, and feels a commitment to, it wasn't too difficult a decision to make
It's also cool that while nash is a genuinely Good Guy he's not a bland, boring person either. He's one of the few who will answer a question honestly rather than just give the same canned answer every time. We're gonna miss him for long time when he's gone
