Must not be the Bledsoe I saw play for KY.
The kid has few PG skills,is a streak shooter...over-rated, should have gone Rd 2 but there were NO real PG's

Not accurate. There wasn't a mock draft that had Bledsoe going in round 2, this pick is similar to the Jrue Holiday selection by Philadelphia last year. Holiday didn't play much PG since Collison was the starter at UCLA, the same situation happened for Bledsoe as Wall was ahead of him at UK. Just like Holiday is working out well in Philly, he should work out fine for the Clippers.

Re: Bledsoe is a Clipper!
Bledsoe was a great pick. We did need to address a back up point guard, and now that Steve Blake is a Laker it was the right move. Now we have someone at the helm that can replace Baron Davis once his contract is over. Also, having Baron Davis still on the roster will take serious pressure off of Bledsoe.

Hey guys. One of our beat writers in OKC mentioned that the 1st rounder you're sending us is for 2012 and is top 10 protected. Has there been any word in Clipper land on the protection on this pick?

That matches what I have seen from another Clipper board and it is the LA Clipper pick in 2012, not the pick due from Minnesota.
I don't have details on when the protection would run out on it if the Clippers are in the top 10 in 2012 though and keep it for that year.

That Minnesota pick is looking pretty sweet at this point. I honestly have no idea what the hell they're trying to do. They're trying to dump Sessions to sign Luke Ridnour from the latest rumours. Why? I have no freakin clue, but it makes it look much more nice for us in 2 years.

Re: Bledsoe is a Clipper!
I was disappointed with Minnesota's draft from a basketball fan standpoint, but I liked it from the perspective of us collecting that pick in 2 years. They have talented pieces, they just happen to all play 1 of 2 positions. It may not end up too bad for them depending on what they can get for Jefferson.
A 2012 top-10 protected pick is not bad for us to give up imo. If we give it up, we're moving up the standing and we still have Minny's pick to fall back on. My question is it a 1 time thing that dissolves after 2012? Does it become unprotected at some point soon after? Is it going to be a 6 year protection like we had from Minnesota? Either way, I like it. We get 2 years out of Bledsoe before the pick would possibly be due anyways. If he's progressed to where we need him to by that time, then it is no sweat to us.

The only thing I have read about the protection is that the pick is "heavily protected" from a blog. Link is below -

Steve Perrin asked Olshey about the protection of the pick at the draft day press conference. Olshey sounded kind of defensive, saying that he didn't think that it was important to disclose the terms of the deal. He simply stated that it was very well protected. He asked if it was the Minny pick, then Olshey went on to say that it was complicated.

Credit goes to Ranma of the Scout board for this find.
Top-10 protected pick from 2012-2017. Our debt to them expires in 2018 if we have not gotten a pick outside of the top 10 (
) within that time period.
I'm personally hoping that OKC gets our pick in 2012 when we'll collect our pick from Minny.
Clippers pick becomes clear
Details of the draft-night trade that sent 18th overall pick Eric Bledsoe to the Los Angeles Clippers for a future first-round pick have become clear.
The Thunder will receive the Clippers' first-round selection in 2012 if it's outside of the top 10. If L.A. lands the 10th pick or higher, it will keep the selection. The pick, however, will roll over into the 2013 draft should L.A. retain the selection in 2012. Oklahoma City will have a five-year window starting with the 2012 draft to acquire the pick before it permanently remains with the Clippers.

So basically if we continue to suck until 2018, we will have obtained Bledsoe for free!

Re: Bledsoe is a Clipper!
so its a good deal after all. I very hopeful that we will not be a top 10 pick team in 2012, and since we already have the minny pick it will be ok.

2012 first round draft pick to Oklahoma City
The Los Angeles Clippers’ own 2012 first round draft pick to Oklahoma City (top 10 protected in the 2012 draft, top 10 protected in 2013, top 10 protected in 2014, top 10 protected in 2015 and unprotected in the 2016 Draft). In addition, if the Los Angeles Clippers are required to send their 2012 first round pick pursuant to the above and are also entitled to receive Minnesota’s own 2012 first round draft, then Oklahoma City shall receive the lesser of the Los Angeles Clippers’ own 2012 first round pick and Minnesota’s own 2012 first round pick. I'm cool with that. That's what I would have originally assumed under the 5 year protection plan. The total expiration of debt would have been nice (had we needed it), but it was hard to believe. I'm personally hoping that OKC gets our pick in 2012 and Minny's pick provide us with a key prospect to add to the likes of Gordon and Griffin. It should be a pretty talented draft imo.

Re: Bledsoe is a Clipper!
I was hoping to have 2 good picks whenever we got the Twolves pick, but I'm satisfied with adding one lottery prospect since we traded for Bledsoe.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!
