I can see we're very far apart on both points. "59 Sound" destroys "American Slang." Not to say I don't like the album, but there's nothing that can compete with 59, Great Expectations, Meet Me By the River's Edge, or Here's Looking at You Kid.
CJ Miles is touted as a Hornacek-type pure shooter by some around these parts. But the fact that that just isn't true, combined with his atrocious shot selection, led him to shoot just under 43% from the field, 34% from the three-point line, and 69% from the foul line. He freelances far too often, generally with negative results, and throws up more heat-checks than LeBron James when he makes two jumpers consecutively. His defense is, at best shaky. He's a poor help defender and, on-ball, reaches in rather than moving his feet.
Miles isn't a lost cause because he lacks athletic ability. He's a lost cause because he's had four years (high school or no, four full seasons is a long freaking time) to develop the correct mentality to succeed in our offensive system and play smart defense, but he just hasn't done it. CJ Miles isn't Ed O'Bannon; he's not going to be out of the league in two years. But he'll be easily forgettable when he finally is.

Once CJ realized he doesn't need to jack three's to be effective, he started becoming a real asset. He was very good in the playoffs this year and with out him we wouldn't have beat the Nuggets.
Augustine looks like he has really worked on his body which would allow him to play C for stretches if he makes the team. Hopefully he can get his rebounding numbers up.

Forgot to mention Howard Eisley sitting behind Jerry and Phil for the entire game. Wonder what that was about. Probably just wanted to hang around to gain coaching knowledge.

Not a stretch to say our 7th man will be forgettable when he's finally out of the league.... hardly an earthshattering statement. But Miles' 1v1 D is actually very decent for a SG. I'd rank his 1v1 D above half of the starting SGs in this league. It's really no comparison between Miles and Hayward at this point if we're talking about 1v1 D.

I think it's saying something. It's a lot easier for me to remember Antoine Carr than it is Mike Iavaroni. I had to think for about 90 seconds to come up with that name too.
Presently, Miles' one-on-one defense is probably better (had to tell from one summer league game), but give Hayward some time and I think that will change, if only because he'll work harder at it. We'll just have to agree to disagree about him being better on defense than half the league's starting SGs. I just don't believe that.

I guess you proved your own point, since it's Marc Iavaroni.
But Iavaroni was in the era before Carr, so maybe your memory is just failing you. Sucks to get old.

I only saw him get beat twice. I have no idea what game you watched. The times he got beat he was fumbling off of a set screen. I may be wrong, but I can already tell by your post that you're a Hayward hater.
Hayward played great. He didn't look at Game One like a lot of players do. A lot of players feel the need to light it up and show off but he played within the system and played really smart basketball. I think he's going to be a great player for the Jazz because of his ability to find other players. He seems like he has a good knack for rebounding too. It was obvious he still needs to get more comfortable in the Utah system, but he looked good. I'd love for him to take a few more shots next game, especially from deep to get a sense of his range.
Augustine was a beast too. I hope he can keep it up in the following games. I'd love to see him make the team.
He played decent overall. 2-2 isn't great though. He was solid, but it took him awhile to get in the flow of the game. You must be a homer to think he was A. good on defense, and B. going to be able to stay in front of good 2/3s in real NBA games. Here is a little blurb I caught on another site "There also was the time he got caught on the wrong end of a poster-dunk by Charlotte's Alexis Ajinca, and the time he was caught flat-footed when Derrick Brown blew past him". This is the summer league mind you. When things get even tougher I worry about his defense.

He's going to be a solid role player for us. I still don't think he'll end up being worth the 9th pick.
I don't think that's being a Hayward "hater", but keep letting comments against your boy get
under your skin. You obviously can't accept anything but raving glowing reviews. Sorry,
but I call it as I see it.
