Southeast Division Rumors

Boozer to Orlando

Interesting possibility. If the Magic could deal Carter that would be amazing. Carter, Gortat, and Bass for Boozer and Okur is intriguing, but I'm not quite sure how the resulting Orlando lineup looks. I guess Lewis goes to SF and Redick becomes the starting SG.

plans to move Shard to the SF position have been going since the season ended. People forget he played his first 9 seasons in the league at SF and was an all-star there. We also have the MLE to get a SG if needed, so Redick doesnt have to start, depending on moves. The scenario most envisioned though is Gorat+Bass/Pietrus for Boozer alone. That would still leave Carter on the team. over paid, but he can still get you 15 ppg

Thanks for chiming in. Redick starting wasn't the problem I had (he outplayed Vince in the playoffs). I'm not sure the traditional PF with Dwight works. It clogs up paint offensively. Makes Orlando actually more straight forward for some teams to match up against. Also I figured if the traditional PF system was the way to go then Brandon Bass would have gotten more run. I could be wrong, have to see it play out on the court. If they do pull of a trade then kudos to Otis Smith for being active.

A front court of Carlos Boozer and Dwight Howard would be terrible for us.

Orlando has until July 9th to use their trade exception from the Hedo Turkoglu trade. I believe the amount is $6.8 million.

What are everybody's thoughts on the Wade possibly to Chicago rumors? Is this a smokescreen to throw off the Bulls plans or is he serious about this? Possibly he's saying if Miami doesn't get Bosh or LeBron then he's gone..

I think Chris Bosh is going to Miami and Dwayne Wade stays. I just read Chris Bosh recently bought a house in Miami, but he has been known for loving the area, so it really means nothing.

All the two of them are doing right now is taking advantage of the attention and having their name out there. Another added bonus besides the attention is that they continue to accumulate sky miles.

Lebron James has teams coming to him. One thing I can say I like about Lebron is that he is a family man and seems to spend as much time with his children as possible.

Chris Paul Trade Rumors Could Be the Next Talk of the Town

"(Paul's frustration) is very real, very real," said a source close to Paul. "He doesn't see them putting a (championship-caliber) team together."

It was April 23 when news broke of the ownership change. The Hornets were supposedly set to transfer majority ownership from George Shinn to Gary Chouest, with all involved -- except Shinn, of course, but including Paul -- claiming it was a fantastic move in the right direction. Team officials were even telling reporters the deal would be finalized by the end of the month.

More than two months later, Shinn is still in charge and Chouest -- the supposed billionaire who runs the Edison Chouest Offshore global marine service company -- continues to gather minority investors to get the deal done. The delay reportedly has nothing to do with the April 20 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico that is the largest in the country's history, even if it's clear he took massive losses because of the disaster. NBA commissioner David Stern even raised a red flag on May 11, saying "it's not a given at all" that the sale would go through.

Meanwhile, Paul saw his favorite coach and close friend (Byron Scott) fired early last season and his general manager (Jeff Bower) is now reportedly hoping for an exit of his own to New Jersey. And now, we wait to see if the sequence of events leads to the Hornets being forced to lose Paul.

New Orleans already turned down aggressive proposals from Portland and New Jersey, according to sources, and FanHouse reported on talks with Orlando that were denied by general manager Otis Smith days before additional reports surfaced about his pursuit of Paul.

Things could get real ugly for the rest of the Southeast if Orlando acquires any of the big names that are being mentioned.

If Paul winds up on the block it could be time to think outside the box on an offer.

2 ideas:
#1 Financial relief and future prospects (don't even have to include Bibby if we get some space in a Joe deal).
Jamal Crawford
Mike Bibby
and 3 #1 picks (2011, 2013, 2015)
for
Chris Paul

#2 A replacement exciting player and picks.
Josh Smith
and 2 #1 picks (2011, 2013)
for
Chris Paul

It would be as much about rebuilding the focus of our roster as it would be keeping him away from competitors in our division. If Orlando got him it would become a really long decade.

This one would for sure get it done:
Al Horford
Mike Bibby
Mo Evans
2012 #1 pick
for
Chris Paul
Okafor
Why? They get a cheap young All Star, a expiring contract, a backup to collision, and a future pick while ATL takes on a bad contract. No other team can offer a package this nice.
I wouldn't include Jcrawford in this deal because he is to important to our success.
Team:
C- Okafor, ZaZa
PF- Smith
SF- Williams
SG- JJ, Jcraw
PG- Paul, Teague
^That team could deff. be in title contention.

The Orlando Magic signed point guard Chris Duhon to a four-year, $15 million contract on Tuesday. More depth at the point for Orlando. Anyone concerned?

Chris Duhon is terrible. Just look at his statistics the last season.

7.5 points, 5.4 assists, 1 steal, 2.4 rebs.
Jason Williams last year, 6 ppg, 3.6 assists, .65 steals, 1.4 rebs.

Duhon was hired to to be a backup, and spot starter when Nelson has another one of his lingering issues. We paid Anthony Johnson + J-Williams over $3 mil last year, so we are fine with this signing.

Al Harrington likes the Orlando Magic.

Orlando probably needs to make some moves first and figure out what to do about JJ first.

What could they offer him? I'm guessing that they've already cut into they're MLE with the Duhon signing, so he could only get about $2 mil. If he likes them enough, I'd go ahead and sign him for that, then make some moves. I've always liked Harrington as someone in the regular rotation.

LA is doing the right thing by allowing him to seek out his value.

Wiretap: Fisher Met At Airport By James

Derek Fisher flew to Miami on Friday night on a private plane for a meeting with Pat Riley on Saturday, but was greeted by LeBron James at the airport.

James gave Fisher a recruiting pitch as to why he should join the Heat, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.

Negotiations between the Lakers and Fisher remain positive, according to sources close to the discussions.

Any trade proposal that has Paul coming to the Hawks is obviously a good trade.

Dallas has offered Udonis Haslem 3yrs, $20 million. His heart is in Miami, but will he accept less money to return?

Return to Atlanta Hawks
