Dont expect any defense.
Expect him to try and sell you some debit/credit cards.
Expect some flashy dunks.
They say hes the best finisher in the game, but Nash sets up him for those finishes 95% of the time.

I'm expecting him to have a great year because he'll be 100% for the first time in years with something to prove. Of course Nash had a huge impact on his scoring ability but when fully healthy he's the best PF in the game at taking his man off the block and finishing. This guy was legit before Nash got here. It would be nice if NY could pull that Curry for Okafor swap so a defensive presense is back there.
Don't listen to the bitter Suns' fans who give Nash all the credit. It was def a good move and hopefully will attract Lebron. They would be great together.

Re: Can a Knicks fan get some info on Amare?
You have an excellent passing big in Lee - if he stays, that could be a deadly combo, and with Gallo to spread the floor you have some space inside. Lee plays a lot at the top of the key/elbow, right?
Or if you sign a pas-first guy. I don't know Douglas well enough to say if he's ready to be the starter. I do like the guy's game.
Stat is deadly anywhere near the rim - he can jam with either hand form a ridiculous distance - you wouldnt' think he's close enough but BLAM, flushed. Has a very dependable jumper for 12' and in, so defenders can't cheat on him.
when motivated and in the mood, he is a competent defender and strong shotblocker. He says the zone we played in the playoffs left him away form the hoop and blocking out so others could rebound. There's a bit of truth to that, but he has just never beent he rebounding presence he could be.
Fundamentls you see in a Y pickup game are lost on Stat. I saw him block out once and had to run the Tivo back to believe it. I think in his earlier days, highschool and early time in the league, he could just outjump people. Not now. He doesn't put his arms up when the ball is in the air - he would probably get three or four a game if he was just positioned and reaching for the ball.
But he is a charming guy, a brilliant offensive talent and a good teammate. You could have done a lot worse

Re: Can a Knicks fan get some info on Amare?
PROS:
- He can dominate offensively. He’s a great finisher and possibly the best power dunker in the NBA
- Once he sets his mind to something….he usually does it.
CONS:
- He’s not a clutch player. He’s never given us baskets when we need them most.
- He does not play defense…it’s really a lack of effort, not a lack of talent.
- He does not box out and therefore does not rebound like he should for his size and athletic ability.
- He loves to talk big but talk is cheap…he does not live up to his own hype.
- He has a bad habit of staying stupid things.
- He has a low Basketball IQ and frequently makes bone head plays
- He often gets in foul trouble
- He will probably need another micro fracture surgery in the future. He’s DEFINITELY not as good as he was before his first surgery. While his stats have not changed drastically, the way he earns his points HAS. He used to get the majority of his point by getting into the lane and rolling right into people. His outside shot in his first few seasons never fell. NOW he gets about half his points off of jumpers. He is a great outside shooter, but I’d want my $20 mil a year big man getting me points in the paint. YES, he still does dunk and drive to the basket but not nearly as much as he used to.
- I’ve met him. He’s an ****. Many others that meet him agree. The local paper says he has become a better teammate but he did call EVERYONE on the team out during the Spurs playoff series. Apparently he stood in front of the team and told every single person what they did wrong. It didn’t go over well. LOL.
Unless you get a few more solid players….the Knicks and Amare are in trouble. As someone said in another thread, D’Antoni will play amare 40 minutes game until he breaks and needs another surgery. Amare won’t improve defensively under D’Antoni..
Look for him to average 22 and 9.
He’s a good player but he is very overrated. Not worth a max deal.

Wow that's a lot of cons. I'm surprised the suns didn't just waive him 2 years ago.

We thought he'll improve.
Turns out to be a no.
*sighs in utter disappointment*
Now he leaves for what he thinks is best for himself.
*angry stare*
And we're neither a lottery team nor a contender.

Re: Can a Knicks fan get some info on Amare?
Amare is incredibly efficient offensively. Very underrated in this regard.
It's normal to see a stat line of 9-13 or 10-14. At times, he seems to be on pace for 40 points in the game and then he touches the ball twice in the second half. I've never understood this.
When Amare is flowing offensively, he tries harder on defense. Key word is tries.
Refs do not, nor ever will respect Amare. He got an early "foul-prone" label when he entered the league and hasn't shaken it. He often picks up blocking fouls on plays where he over-pursues gaurds while swtiching on pick-and-rolls... things that make you want to bang your head against the wall. He's a very capable help side shotblocker, but he's not a primary option.
Amare has the most powerful dunks in the NBA. I just don't think I've seen anyone as quick AND powerful.
I love Amare. I wish that we had paired him with a complimentary style of Center (a legit C) while he was here. Just never happened.
Crazy, crazy, crazy thought. Chris Paul and Emeka Okafor would be the PERFECT match next to Amare. Just saying....

this sums alot,he can dominate on offense but he'll tend to get lazy and not hustle when it comes to rebound unless he has a good night which is showing he may not be full time on his job. Also other big men on other teams usually make him look bad for his defense

Before this gets messy: users creating multiple accounts are flagged and these situations will be addressed by the mod team. If the user in question has in fact circumvented a ban or suspension then discussions will take place internally. Reporting possible occurrences is better than posting out in the open so confrontation does not take place or blame is not placed on anyone but us evil mods.
Thanks,

For Amar'e discussion, there are other threads where it is taking place, so take your pick.
Sorry OP to lock this but it was getting out of hand/OT. Hope you've gotten good info so far and stick around in our other threads to get more!
