Wasn't it just awesome that Dixon responded to that Amazingly Sucky post?

I mean, you just know Gil lurks the board. Or, maybe his dad was really in his ear. I dunno. He and at least a couple guys and maybe a GM or two. (Etan did for sure). But to have a player just out himself like Juan did was TERRIFIC!

The Amazingly Sucky thread gave Juan motivation to have perhaps his finest NBA game.

I've knocked Wall a whole lot. I just don't think he's a Jason Kidd distributor at all.

However, Tonyism74, I sure hope you're right about John Wall having a Jason Kidd (and I'd add Steve Nash) benefit on other players. Yi sure could be good for that kind of PG.

I don't see it, I confess. I hope to, though.

What name did Juan go-by on the boards CCJ?

I can't recall. I bet doclinkin can.

Juan's not the only player that's posted here.

I swear I also think EG does or has under an alias. I just won't say who I think he is/was.

My thoughts as a strongly-opinionated, but at times dead wrong poster, are that players and coaches alike can benefit from brutal honesty. They have to consider the source and just be mature and receive it in love, and also have to discard as useless the "stuff" they can't change or don't believe.

I hate to post about Jamison because I'm pretty sure he remembers talking to me more than once. But at the same time that dude is so classy, so rich, and so much better looking than I am he better not be too offended by anything I say. :) Dude's richly blessed! So what if he's experienced trying times on the court. He's a winner. Period.

Guys like Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce each have holes in their games and they didn't win a thing until the perfect storm of good fortune collided for all of them in Boston. Thibodeau would have helped Jamison and Butler, too, if the Wizards could have landed Thibs! EJ and whatever didn't let that happen. Oh, well ....

Anyhow, for the players that read ( and DON'T READ) objectionable stuff from me I love it when they prove me wrong. I hope John Wall isn't grossly overrated. I hope EG doesn't suck as a GM. (I already know he's a good judge of talent and has some depth of thought I have really underestimated. I just think he pays too much for mediocre talent and stability).

Man, I'm on a rant, closq.

Players/coaches/scouts that read this just need to see how much we collectively love the Wizards and want the best for the franchise. We've been fans longer than they've been onboard. They might switch teams but we'll still be here. We're paying for their product or just investing (way too much) time in them.

So, Gilbert, you know I still love you, man. Heck, I even miss DeShawn and he had probably the worst season any starting SG has ever had. Heck, I still pull for Larry Hughes just because I like the guy. The player and the person are separate with me, any way...

I don't think Juan actually posted here; rather, he name-checked the thread during an interview. So, while it was clear that he had read/heard of RealGM and the "Amazingly Sucky" thread, I don't recall him actually posting on here and interacting with us.

Doesn't EG go by the name Lyrical Rico on the boards?

keynote, you're probably on point.

Etan Thomas is the one that IMO posted here. Him, maybe Brendan or DeShawn.

Right now, I think Gil still drops in or he's got a super good alias and is a regular.

Juan's cousin told him about the Thread, he never posted as far as we know. But he 'responded' by dropping 35 to save the Wiz' tails in a playoff game vs Chicago, then name-checking the RealGM site, saying his cousin told him about it. I think imperium started the first 'Amazingly Sucky' thread (re: Jared Jeffries) I forget who started the one on Juanderdawg. But since the archives will never be enabled we will likely never know.

You are really all that, doc. Impressive with moving in to a new house and all going on.

I knew you'd recall but just didn't expect you to be tracking right now.

To Juan's cousin I say Stephan Bonner in MMA got caught, too. Finally, though, he's hung around long enough to benefit from juicing. Lance Armstrong's done what Landis says IMO, but just hasn't got caught.

I'm not mad at Juan and say the suspension in Spain sucks. Too bad he got caught. Just don't abuse them too much that they affect your ability to father kids. Don't go Lyle Alzado on them! Do go Sly Stallone, as long as you're not taking your HGH through airports. Not sure if you want to go all Arnold Schwarzenegger, because he's had heart surgery. Then again, the roids didn't stop him from advancing in movies and marrying into politics and getting elected.

Juan's steroid use: Not Amazingly Sucky as far I'm concerned. Getting caught, just like for Gil, sucks IMO.

(I think I'm saying get a great doctor and know how to mask them if you're an athlete. I suspect they're not alway harmful but in fact beneficial. My real concern is leveling the playing field so those taking performance enhancers don't get that unfair advantage. Moreso, that the morons and those who'll take them at great risk to their health don't die trying to cheat.

One thing with Juan that I found irony in as that his parents were both IV drug users who died of AIDS. I have NO IDEA what Juan took or how, but I can't see him using any needles. Can't see it at all. Maybe there was something else for him. A cream, perhaps? An inhalant? I don't know.)

I want to take partial credit for the name. I started "The Amazing Brendan Haywood" thread several days before the appearance of the first "Amazingly Sucky" thread. Somebody cleverly played off my title. Also, I don't think Dixon's was the first "Amazingly Sucky" thread. I think that honor was bestowed upon Jared Jeffries first, but I might be remembering wrong.

I'd bet that as a percentage, lots more marginal players juice vice the stars. Juan was juicing probably because he just wasn't good enough to make it any more (he was barely good enough when he was young). Someone like Lance Armstrong clearly never had that problem. I think you might see the stars juicing when their skills start to drop, but some are just really gifted athletes to begin with, and probably don't need to. Said another way, as much as I dislike LeBonBon, I would be shocked it if turns out his physique was artificially developed.

Juan's response was plausible. He said he's always been a health freak obsessing about his foods and and loading up on whatever supplements the recent literature says are most effective. He said he got caught not reading labels closely enough and took something that the Eurodocs test for and frown on. Usually athletes take steroids to cut recovery time from an injury (or post-workout to superload and allow you to bulk up). Juan wasn't even injured at the time, just ate the wrong handful of caplets.

So this is a placeholder for the inevitable "Official Amazingly Sucky Yi" thread?

Juicers and players posting on Real GM are as fleeting as lotus blossoms in the Yangtze to Yi. Yi remembers when the jade mountain was still hot from the smiths hammer and holds only the ethereal winds and cosmic fire as his ancestors.

And yet in all of Yi's years, he has never seen a thread-jack so brazen as this.

I predict he'll be a perennial All-Star in a few years. We'll all be bragging about the "Big Yi" this time next year.
