Good point of the fact that it would keep Bosh away from our direct opponents ;)

Folks at the MN board were coming up with Al Jefferson trade ideas.

Wondering if ATL had any interest...

Would either team do this swap?

Minnesota Gives: Al Jefferson & Jonny Flynn.
Atlanta Gives: Josh Smith & Mike Bibby.

Josh Smith and Al Jefferson have nearly identical contracts that run through the 2012
/2013 season. Mike Bibby's contract is done after the 2011/2012 season. Flynn is there to be the PG of the future for ATL.

Someone mentioned a Josh Smith for Big Al swap before but many have said that ATL would be hesitant to pull the trigger. How about adding Flynn as an incentive (while taking Mike Bibby off their hands)? Josh Smith would be the athletic PF/SF that can run with Brewer/Wes, and Rubio (when he comes).

Depth chart would look something like this?

C - Darko/Pekovic
PF - Smith / Love
SF - Wes / Brewer
SG - Webster / Brewer
PG - Bibby / Sessions / (Rubio)

Personally, I'd love to keep Al and trade Love but the way Kahn and co. have managed this entire situation, we have no other choice but to trade him.

Atlanta:

Al Jefferson
Al Horford
Marvin Williams
Joe Johnson
Jonny Flynn

I like pairing up the two Als and this gives ATL a great, young PG in Flynn - who I think will flourish outside of Rambis' system.

Personally no, I'd look for more from the runner up DPOY. I like Jefferson, but I really just don't see the fit here.

The majority of people here aren't going to approve of a trade proposal unless we are ripping the other team off...but that's a decent offer.

If Jefferson were healthy, you'd be right. Problem is, he stays hurt -- and the MIN fans are starting to say he declares himself unfit to play when he feels like it.

Besides, if we decide to trade Smoove, we don't need another PF.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

I'm not sure why they would think that. Jefferson didn't miss any of his 1st 132 games in Minny and then tore his ACL. He then came back and played in 76 of 82 games. That's not really a track record of someone who milks injuries.

But you're right about the PF part...I don't think Jefferson wants to play C.

Yep, and if I remember correctly, the 6 games he did miss weren't do to injury. (I'm pretty sure that his grandmother (who he was close to) died, so he missed a few games to be with his family.)

Edit:

I think that he'd prefer to play PF, but if you put a strong defender at the other post spot (like Horford or Perkins in Boston), he'd be fine playing either.
