Wow, the Raptors are going to be epically bad next year. Are they going all in for Harrison Barnes?

I don't think that's an overpay. If fans on other boards have any correlation to their front offices, he was a name that was mentioned by a lot of teams as a valuable 6th or 7th man. I was always surprised when I'd see so many Gomes threads on other RealGM boards, because he is certainly no star. People generally liked his willingness, and ability, to do a little bit of everything.

I wouldn't have done it for the Raptors though. Gomes is a really nice complimentary player, particularly for a contender. Do they think they will keep Bosh? If I was them, I'd have spent my money on a rawer, younger player with more upside. I think they need to start a rebuild, even with all that money locked up.

I have a hunch this might be bogus. TheNBAScoop cites ESPN but I can't find anything to confirm.

You would think that a contending team would've tried to snatch him up?

Sorry everyone, I think we should lock this for the time being. I can't confirm anywhere.

Ability to do a little bit of everything? I'd say he's more of a one trick pony. He's a slow small forward that is poor at getting to the hoop, poor at getting to the free throw line, average to below average at rebounding, and terrible on defense. The only thing he has going for him is his jump shot which is streaky at best. Gomes doesn't have any place on a championship team.

Honestly, it would be a good pay day for Gomes, but I would hate to such a nice guy end up on such a bad team. That franchise really has no direction, eventually all that spending is going to backfire. I'd really love to see Gomes on a team like the Spurs

I don't mean to troll, but the Raptors franchise has no direction? If you are a fan of the Wolves, you have got to be kidding me. I would take Raps roster over Wolves roster any day of the week. I would suspect the Wolves and Raps will both be in the lottery next summer.

Even the fast approaching day of the week where Bosh leaves the team? I sure wouldn't.

I'm curious to hear your reason why you would take a Raptors roster without Bosh and with Hedo over the Wolves roster.

i think what Slum (err 4ho) was getting at was it makes no sense for your Raps team to spend lots of dough on Gomes when you are about to lose Bosh.
