Wade along with Bosh in Miami now have four players under contract. Can they be a team tha can get by the first round of the playoffs?

No, it's called being realistic. Rose is a very good player. But he's not better than Deron Williams. And the Jazz weren't better than the Cavs.

Even if we "strike out", we've still got a top ten player and an ass-ton of cap-space.

Rose is not a top-10 player. We hope he'll be that one day, but he's not now. As it stands, he's at best the third best in the league at his position.

I don't like to do this b/c it's bad karma, but what red-blooded American Bulls fan isn't going to be rooting for Chris Bosh to suffer a hip dislocation during the first quarter of his first game with the Heat?

It's official, I prefer Lee to Boozer only so we don't have the stupidity of talking about the Jazz all of the time.

What makes you say that? You do understand that the Cleveland supporting cast is almost guaranteed to **** the bed....What makes you so confident that a developing Bulls team can't beat a Cleveland roster that has proven to suck when it counts?

As for the Heat- who knows. Getting Wade-Bosh is fine and dandy, but they still have a lot of work to do before you can write them off as a lock for the ECF.

Me too. If we completely strike out, no one should blame them if they decide to go somewhere else when their contracts are up. These guys don't deserve this crap.

I'm not gonna panic yet. We still have roughly 36 hours before we can officially give up our pipe dream.

Anyway, striking out on the big three was always the likeliest scenario when you think about it. We were sucked into the WWW hype. We were sucked into the D-Wade wanting to go back home hype. It was very easy for us to have high hopes this time around with a solid roster firmly in place.

I don't know what the Bulls' front office is doing at this point. They haven't tipped their hands at all during this entire process. I don't know what their plan is. I hope it involves a really good pick-and-roll power forward that could partner up with Rose and a couple of three point specialists for Rose to kick the ball out to while driving into the lane.

I hope they didn't put all of their eggs into the LeBron basket because WWW told them it's a lock. I don't think they're that gullible, but then again it's easy to dream big when someone with solid connections is giving you reasons to dream.

Whether it's Lee or Boozer. Redick or Miller. What I'm looking for are players that can fit this system. Striking out on the big three sucks royally, but let's face facts people. Three months ago if any one of us thought netting these guys could happen, we'd be laughed out of these boards.

My brain.

They may not be a lock for the ECF, but they're better than anything we'll have short of landing LeBron.

No, they won't. If, for example, Bron goes back to Cleveland, there is no realistic possibility that the Bulls will be better than the Heat or the Cavs.

I don't agree with that at all.

What makes you think the Heat will be worse than the Bulls if Miami beat Chicago three times out of four last year, with Rose, Noah, and company? Adding Bosh to the Heat doesn't make Bulls the better team in no way. Hell, I'm thinking the Heat will sweep us nest year if we don't add something big.

I know it sucks that Bosh is going to Miami, but lets get the facts straight, please.

The problem with Chicago is that we are already a low end playoff team. If we add Boozer and a good shooting SF (e.g. - not a breaking down Ray Allen, not a SF in Mike Miller or non-shooter Josh Childress [who I like at SF, but who is a SF]) we might also push up to top 4 Eastern team. But the Bulls won't be a contender without getting Rose a "2nd star" to play with. And Noah's not that guy - he's a 3rd guy on a contending team - way too limited offensively.

Given the high level of success "collective" teams like Boston and Detroit have had in the NBA over the last 6 years, I simply cannot understand why people think the "second star" is an absolute necessity. Or, rather, how a guy like Boozer isn't a sufficient "second star" when you also have Deng, Noah and shooters buttressing him and Rose.

Its been indisputably proven in recent years that teams constructed in such a way can compete at the highest levels of the NBA. No, they likely can't compete as dynasties. But they contend and can, and have, won it all.

Here is the thing. I am not mad at the FO. I desperately want to blame someone to make me feel better, but I can't.

My FA plan, from the second we made the Miller/Salmons trade and basically announced that we would be players in the FA derby over 17 months ago was to acquire Chris Bosh. This is way before we thought we'd ever have a chance with LeBron, same with Wade. I remember reading an article after the 09 trade deadline that Bosh said Chicago was his number 1 choice. I waited all summer for the Bulls to pull off a trade for Bosh, but Toronto wasn't trading. I waited all February for the Bulls to pull off a trade, but Toronto insisted they were resigning him. I had my hopes set on a legit superstar FA and thought that we would have a fantastic shot to get him.

The LeBron and Wade failures are a little disapointing but, assuming LeBron stays in Cleveland I can't be upset if both of them stay on their previous teams. Apparently, Bosh just had to play with Wade, so once Wade decided to stay in Miami, that was out of the picture too. Thanks for giving our fine restaurants your business 4 times last week guys.

It just sucks because for a year and a half I circled this offseason to get our 2nd superstar to sign with Rose. Then, obviously we all got our hopes up once this LeBron stuff took off. People were saying Chicago was the clear front runner, the supposedly connected WWWeasel made it seem like it was likely. I never quite got my hopes all the way up to where I was making threads like "Do you feel the rest of the NBA is scared of the Bulls", like others did, but I thought it was a realistic possibility. It made me feel really good about our chances because we now had *3* chances to acquire a superstar. I started to think it was a lock and we'd rise to the top of the East. That is when my expectations started to get out of whack.

At this point if we can get Boozer, and not blow the rest of our cap space on a long term bad contract, i'll be somewhat satisfied.

If LeBron goes anywhere but Cleveland, I will be livid. But again not at the FO. I will be livid at nothing in particular because I just don't understand how someone who claims to want to win, and claims MJ is his idol and he grew up a Bulls fan wouldn't choose us over any of the other 28 non-Cleveland teams. just doesn't make sense to me.
