I can see a 18/9 player, but, for me, its not a player to build around, its a good 2nd option ala Pau Gasol in the Lakers.
And... hmm... Splitter is a better player than Nene, IMO.

Funny...just yesterday I was thinking that Splitter ceiling is Pau Gasol.
Want an example how Splitter is better than Nene? Just look the games of our NT. Barbosa is the number 1 option and Splitter is the clearly number 2, while Nene is just the number 4 or 5

And what do you think his numbers will be once he's in his prime (28 years old, 3 years in the league) and playing 34 minutes a night?
Cause honestly, best case scenario for me is that in his prime he's a 16-18 points and 9-10 rebounds guy. And come on, how many Centers around the league does that? Even Al Horford, an all-star, averages 14 and 10. At 16 points 9 rebounds a game, that's one of the top 5 Centers in the league and IMO if you have a top 5 player in any position, that's someone good enough to be one of the guys you built around.
I'd say 11/6 in 25 minutes. In his prime, after a couple of years playing under Pop and with a declining Duncan, I'd say he could average 16/8. Dont get me wrong, I love his game. He's a winner and he will do everything for his team to win and thats why I dont think he will get huge stats. He's not the kind of player that fights for FT's rebounds with his teammates. But he can impact the game like Varejao does, with high basketball IQ and with solid defense.

Re: splitter
The thing is that you have two types of "euro" players.
One of then is the ones that come at a really young age, with huge talent but not really tested in Europe. Like Nene, Gasol, Milicic, Mahinmi?. It ends up being really good (Gasol) or not that good (Milicic).
Tiago is a good talent, tested in Europe, and being the best big guy in Europe by far. So, you really can trust in that kind of players/talent. A good example was Scola (less athletic and worst size), but he end up his season with a 16-9 stats playing ALL games.. An awesome example also is Manu. He was drafted as an athletic kid, that started playing big in europe and after all is MVP awards he arrived to the NBA. Well, the rest is known history..

Nene never played in Europe. He played in Brazil before jumping to the NBA. Barbosa did the same. But I take your point. Both were completely mysteries.
BTW, keep your eyes open for another brazilian stud: Lucas Nogueira. He signed to play in the ACB for Estudiantes. He destroyed in the U18 America Championship this week.
You heard it here first.

1st of all, Nene dont answer a call from our NT Team for a looong looong time, second that Machado is our 2nd choice on attack and that´s the reak problem, but we will see who is the better player in this World Champz, my guess is nene by far.
Nenê, brazilan tomahawk!

Re: splitter
This is the NBA. NBA rules. Splitter may end up being the better player, but who knows? Comparing today's skills, I find it hard to believe Splitter is better than Nene. Offensively, there's just no way Splitter is better than Nene. Splitter's not even better than Scola on offense and Nene is a very good offensive scorer. Defensively, Nene is a physical defender who is already used to NBA's rules on defense. Splitter atleast won't get used to it until his second year. Also, there's little doubt to who is the stronger player right now. It's Nene. I do hope Splitter ends up being better than Nene in the NBA scene later in their careers.

Re: splitter
Apparently Splitter's opt out kicks into effect on July 15th hence why we haven't heard anything yet, I expect that to be the day everything is signed off on.
