Keep Seraphin?

Post#1 » by a2dak » Wed Jul 7, 2010 5:30 pm

Any chance the Bulls end up keeping this guy? I wouldn't mind letting Gibson take the starting spot for now and waiting to see if Seraphin turns out to be a baller. Def cheaper than Boozer or Lee with more upside. A team of Rose, Hinrich, Deng, Gibson and Noah isn't gonna blow anyone away, but at least we wont be stuck in salary cap hell.

No way. We'll be totally blackballed if we back out of that trade. Just like Washington would have if they backed out.

No, they'd lose credibility with future trade partners if the reneged on a trade just because things didn't work they way they expected. We still need the room to improve the team anyway.

He's gone.

Even though the trade isn't official, the Bulls won't "cancel" it - unless the Wizards also agree on it. He would be a lovely piece to the Bulls and having Hinrich back would be nice. It won't happen though.

The ONLY way this trade gets cancelled, is if BOTH teams come to a mutual agreement and cancel the trade.

Here's hoping the Bulls put a caveat in the deal beforehand (e.g., we do this trade if we get any one of Lebron/Wade/Bosh).

...or if the trade was set up as "contingent on" something in the first place.

But otherwise, yeah -- what's done is done.

Seriously. There's no takebacksies in the NBA or any professional sports for that matter. You can't reneg on a deal without mutual consent or no team will ever trade with you again.

Not at all. I'd rather have:

9 million to get a starting SG and depth

than

Kirk Hinrich

I still like the move. Moving Kirk's contract still make the Bulls better. Kirk was making way to much money for his role on the team. He is a solid point guard and a below average 2 guard. If he was still playing point guard for the Bulls the contract isn't bad. His role on the Bulls was starting off guard and backup point. For 8/9 million a year, the Bulls should be able to upgrade the off guard and find a solid 10-12 minute a game backup point guard.

If healthy, the Bulls would have been a 45-47 win team last year. If we can upgrade the pf and sg position, plus add QUALITY depth, this will be a respectable off season. Even if we didn't hit the big 3 HR.
