What if Farmar signs with another team, and then that team ends up getting a better PG through a trade or draft pick, etc? Farmar would find himself in the exact same position he's in now, but possibly on a worse team. Or what if he simply struggles with whichever team he goes to?

The Lakers have been looking for a good PG for years now. LAL is severely lacking at the 1, and if Jordan Farmar was a starting caliber PG in the NBA, he would be starting for the Lakers, no question, regardless of system.

I have a feeling that his ego and selfishness may come back to bite him on this one. Blaming the system for his individual failure is a complete cop-out, especially seeing as we just won 2 championships.

Which is exactly why he's looking at a team like the Pacers. It gives him time to prove himself and test his talents before he can establish some value for a contending team.

i think from farmar's comments, his big frustration was that in his mind he never got a legit shot to win the starting job. so, to your point about some other team signing him then getting a better pg, as long as he gets a legit shot to win the job, i think thats all farmar wants.

The most intersting factoid is that Farmar had his best year (far and away) when the Lakers lit a fire under him by drafting Crittenton.

I have always thought he was a bad fit, even when he was playing well a few years back.

This writing has been on the wall for years fellas.

Even though Farmar has more potential I would've traded him to the Clippers for Mardy Collins the year before last.

If Farmar could run the triangle like D Fish and play better D he could start. But as much as Farmar improved he plays streaky and never became a lock down defender.

yeah I have read so many comments and heard so many comments from NBA coaches and analyst that all say Farmar is at the least a 10 Points 10 assist a night guy on some other team.

I still think he's more like 14 pts 4asst.

His passing fundamentals suck and he can't find a big man in the post to save his save his live. No bounce pass skills will limit his assists unless he is on an all hand off/lob team.

Youre right about his passing I have witnessed that first hand. Ugh! But lets just say he wants to become the "man" so he goes all out this summer and gets his game together I think his passing could improve by at least 2 or 3. So eventually we could see a 12pts 10ast average guy later on in his career. I think he has picked up a solid work ethic from Kobe. Playing with Kobe has made the kid fearless too. Farmar could develop into a tough minded and offensively dangerous PG a la Rondo for some team, like the Knicks or Pacers.
