Bosh/Wade/Bron off market. Boozer next?
With Bosh and Wade going to Miami, and Bron saying he's already made his decision, is Boozer the next guy to go.
I think most people's FA wish list looked like this:
LeBron
Wade
Bosh
Amare
Johnson
Boozer
Lee
And now with the top 5 gone I think Boozer has the be the most logical choice. Honestly I think this development almost ensures that Boozer bolts.
If LeBron goes to Miami to join this threesome, then Chicago, New York and New Jersey all have to be looking to sign a guy and will likely be willing to spend above market value to get him.
If LeBron goes to Chicago, they will need to get a big man to play next to him, and Boozer seems like the obvious choice as he has been on Chicago's radar for a long time. (Would love a sign and trade for Gibson or Noah.)
If LeBron signs with New York then Chicago has to offer get a big name FA to compete, and again, Boozer makes a ton of sense.
What do you think? Honestly I think it means LeBron is definitely leaving though, he can't compete in Cleveland against a team like the Heat now.

LeBron going to Chicago is the only scenario that makes Boozer re-signing with the Jazz more likely.

LeBron going to Chicago would make me think that Boozer would want to leave Utah for Chicago even more.

If Lebron Goes to Chicago the Bulls still will have $13.7 under the cap to sign him. Boozer will do that, and the deal will work out for Boozer because for Boozer accepting a less than Max starting pay, he will get a 6yr sign and trade and will get around $100M over 6. The Jazz will pick up the Bulls pick from Charlotte and perhaps another protected first. Perhaps the Charlotte pick and Taj. And don't forget about the fat TPE.
But if Lebron goes to Chicago, it almost guarantees that Boozer will go to the Bulls. It is a perfect fit for him to have a defensive big to pair up with.

My guess is the Bulls would want in on a sign and trade for Boozer to help clear some salary centered around Loul Deng and either James Johnson or Taj Gibson.
Deron/Price
Matthews/CJ
Deng/AK
Millsap/Gibson/Johnson
Fesenko/Koufos/Okur
Not a bad line up at all.

Not bad, but much worse than we had before. At least it would be better defensively but I would worry about where our points would come from.

Why would we want Deng? Slightly above average player with $50 million left on his contract who has been pretty injury prone. The Bulls have been unable to bribe teams to take him.

If the Jazz are interested in bringing Boozer back and the most Chicago can offer him without a S&T is $13.7M/year, why would the Jazz agree to a sign-and-trade with the Bulls? In that case I think the Jazz would offer him a competitive contract. Assuming the only suitors are the Jazz and the Bulls, why would the Jazz just give away their bargaining position?

They will if they can swing a sign and trade with the Jazz for Boozer or a sign and trade with Cleveland. They want to get rid of Deng really bad.

The Jazz would do a sign and trade with the bulls to get talent back when they could get nothing in return for Boozer. The Jazz want to show Deron that they are committed to winning. If they can't land Boozer you think just signing players to fill out the roster, and just look past this season will be alright with Deron? He's got 2 years left on his deal. The Jazz want to show commitment to winning.

The problem is, the Bulls isn't willing to part with any unoverpaid talent and if the Jazz wanted overpaid talent they would just resign Booze.
IMO no team is going to sign Booze to anywhere near the max unless they can draw LeBron/Dwayne to them with the Booze signing. Once LeBron/Dwayne are off the board, instead of gaining value, I think Booze's value will drop through the floor. If the Jazz wants to swing a S&T (unlikely, there is just no unoverpaid talent any team interested in Booze is willing to part with), they need to do it now, but I think what the Jazz is planning to do is to wait it out then sign Booze back at a huge discount for 6 years when LeBron/Dwayne are off the board and everybody backs off. That way the Jazz get the unoverpaid talent they want.

Considering how many teams sold the farm to prepare for this off season, coming away empty handed would be frowned upon heavily by the fan base. Can you imagine if the Jazz traded away young assets, and solid rotational players to sign someone in the off season and then decided to pass on offering a good contract to a 20/10 PF in his prime?
That's not going to happen.
And like seejaydeja said, Boozer is the last big time FA available to try to sway LeBron to joining your team. My guess is Boozer gets a big offer today to show that teams trying to get LeBron are serious.

That's what the Jazz is banking on not happening. It's a pretty big risk to pay Booze the max then not land LeBron. Once nobody takes that risk and LeBron commits, Booze's value doesn't go up, it goes down.

Just my 2 cents:
- No matter what James do, Boozer's value will still be huge for teams like Magic, Nets or Knicks.
- KOC should offer the TPE for Beasley right now (or offer S&T Korver for Beasley/Chalmers)
- Then wait for the Boozer situation to unfold without that much pressure, with the other teams knowing they would have to pay decently for a S&T for Boozer.

Re: Bosh/Wade/Bron off market. Boozer next?
Boozer isn't going to get the max, but he's worth 14 mil to an outside team, with or with out LeBron. A team will offer him that hoping he takes it and it brings in LeBron.
Of the 6 teams chasing LeBron, a line up of Rose, Boozer, Noah and either Taj Gibson or James Johnson is the most complete, and closest to being a contender outside of Miami.
And if the Jazz decide they want to leave Deng in Chicago they could take a huge TPE and either Gibson or Johnson (which has been rumored) and then you have a really good team for LeBron.

You're almost sounding like a Bulls fan: you keep coming up with scenarios that are great for the Bulls and then you shoehorn in a reason why the Jazz would do it.

With the situation the Jazz are in where Boozer may be signing for nothing, the Jazz would be lucky to get anything back.
