Brewer may come back

Post#1 » by HolyToledo » Thu Jul 8, 2010 4:15 am

KOC is going to approach Ronnie Brewer about coming back to the Jazz. I would assume as a back up to Matthews with some SF minutes. Im ok with him coming back. He is a good player and works hard defensively.

I like Ronnie, but even without Korver, we're still flush with wings.

Ronnie Brew belongs on the Jazz. Dwill would be happy to have him back and so would our fast break game!Him and CJ off the bench would be awsome!

I wouldn't mind Brewer back, as long as he has rehabbed that hammy. Brewer was a fan favorite, and despite his shot being mediocre, his defense and baseline prowess would be nice now that Boozer is gone.

i love Ronnie, but Matthews/CJ/Korver got thatspot filled. Hayward comin in isn't going to make that any less crowded... Shouldn't we be lookin a little bigger?

Korver is more than likely gone and we have to use our MLE to resign Matthews. So more than likely no matter what, we are going to be forced to use our TPE for a big. Might as well try to get Brewer w/ the BAE.

Exactly.

I am really hoping to bring Korver back. The more and more I think about it, the more and more I just feel like its going to be necessary to have him back.

I also really want to bring back Ronnie. If we do it will likely be as wing behind CJ, Wes, Kyle (hope), and maybe Hayward. So he would have to come cheap, and if he does I would love to have him.

Tadija Dragicevic may be the back up PF, who knows. He's got a foot [problem keeping him out of the summer league.

Dagicevic is going back to Serbia I believe, as was the plan all along. He may join the Jazz next season.

It would make sense since AK will be playing more minutes at power forward, but I don't think he can produce without Boozer.

Brewer just had a career last year w/o Boozer playing most of the year, but nice try

Yeah, Brewer benefits when the Jazz are spreading the floor and he can cut to the paint. Boozer brings defenders down low which affects Brewer's strengths of attacking the rim.

I'd be happy to see Brewer back.

I think rather than bringing back more wings we need to fortify our front line. Brewer still can't shoot from the outside.

We need Korver back more than Brewer.

Korver>Brewer

We need outside shooting, already have wesley matthews which is why we let him go.. I guess it all depends on the price Korver is asking but Korver would give us an outside shot, Brewer would not.

Lux tax came in at higher than expected 70.5mil.
We're at 62mil including Hayward, Evans, Jeffers, Sundita.
3-4mil for Wes, 1-2mil for Fesenko... and that's 3.5mil left.

It's not whether Brewer would make our team better/worse.... its whether Brewer or another 3.5mil guy will make our team better. With Miles and Hayward playing backup (and D-will more than capable of giving a couple of backup SG minutes each game alongside Price), Brewer will just be injury production.

My guess is that we're only talking to Brewer in case someone tries to sign Wes to a ridiculous contract. In that case, we take Brewer back for cheap and all is well. Otherwise, re-signing him makes no sense in our current cap situation.

not going to be able to afford both wes and kyle. Which leads me to believe Kyle is gone, Brewer has the ablity to start for us but would help out depth situation. We all know the 2-3 are pretty much the same in the system. Having Wes, CJ, Hayward and Brewer would not be a bad thing. It's talented depth, but we still need to worry about size! I really hope we get some sort of TPE for Boozer
