One of the greatest Lakers is a former Celtic -- Bill Sharman and he has received every accolade thsi team can give him. Chick loved him and Sharman coached the team that won a ring and had the 33 game winning streak.

Shaq's number should of course be retired. LA believes in the great center and Shaq is a proud part of that traditional that started with Mikan and hopefully will be continued with Bynum. LA is a big man team and this tradition has always bothered Kobe. Kobe ran Shaq because big men are different than everyone else. They train differently, play diferently and have different energy levels. The main complaint by Kobe against Shaq was that he was out of shape and did not play hard. This recycled complaint was leveled against Jabbar, Wilt and Mikan. Big guys are just different and wing players always complain about them. Kobe's petulants ran Shaq out of town and cost this team a ring or two. Only the acquisition of Gasol has made this latest run possible.

Jackson did not have trouble with Shaq; Kobe was the handful. It would a storybook ending if Shaq were to return, but Kobe has too much ego and hubris to let that happen. I hope Shaq plays for as long as he wishes and still draws big chacks. Even if he gets the MLE, what else is he going to do that generates $6.0mm in earnings this years?

Just reported on ESPN News. Shaq agents denied that ATL made any offer .

ESPN has reported the Celtics have Major interest in Shaq now. Tony you better make that call to him & tell him to bring his big arse back to LA

Im trying but he said he will let everyone know tomorrow at 9 pm eastern time and the press conference is going to be held at Disneyland California at the waffel stand.

Return to Los Angeles Lakers
