Even if Milsap steps up to Boozer levels we lose the MIlsap part of the rotation. Who provides his input. That person is not currently on this team.

True, we'll definitely be thin at the frontline, since Memo will also be gone for a while. I wonder who we're gonna target now in free agency that will add depth to our 4-5 positions.

The Jazz will win enough games to vie for a playoff spot. IMO, they were most exciting to watch when Boozer was out. It all depends on AK and Memo being healthy, CJ continuing his growth (from his playoff performance) and Fes improving on holding the middle.

Hayward producing would be a bonus.

I think we will be a border line playoff team. If Houston, Memphis and LAC do well we may be out, but if only one of them is good we should have a shot at the 6 to 8 seed. And, of course, it all depends on the rest of the off season.

The Jazz have made the playoffs the last few years when Boozer basically missed the season bc of injury. Its not like Boozer was playing 80 plus games each of the past few years. How quickly fans forget how unreliable this guy has been and only stepped up during contract years.

Fact check:

2004-2005: Boozer plays 51 games; Jazz miss the playoffs
2005-2006: Boozer plays 33 games; Jazz miss the playoffs
2006-2007: Boozer plays 74 games; Jazz make playoffs
2007-2008: Boozer plays 81 games; Jazz make playoffs
2008-2009: Boozer plays 37 games; Jazz make playoffs (as 8th seed)
2009-2010: Boozer plays 78 games; Jazz make playoffs

Edit: fixed the years

You might want to research that.

Good point HolyToledo, also with or without Boozer we were still never higher or lower than a 4 or 5 seed.....besides the 8 seed year. NONE of the big free agents went to the West!and one of them left if we play our cards right this offseason we could be right back where we were. KOC we just lost a star now we need 3 really good role players!Go get them!

Maybe Boozer wasnt the diffference!! The Jazz have made the playoffs since Dwill's 2nd year. A team that has DWILL, AK-47, an improving Miles, Millsap, Matthews, is definitely playoff caliber as they will share the ball and hustle defensively. The problem is not losing Boozer but actually the loss of Memo or a center to replace him! Get a center like Biedrens and the Jazz win over 50 games!!!

The Jazz may be a playoff team. They may not. What they are for sure is in no mans land. To build a winner from a B Market city you have to build through the draft, and for the next few years we will either have high lottery picks or low 20's picks. That is the definition of no man's land. All the more reason to have moved up for a big man in the draft this year. KOC lost his chance.

Jazz frontcourt right now:
4 spot - Millsap/Kirilenko
5 spot - Fesenko/Koufos/Okur (career threatening injury)

Borderline playoff team at best (unless Fesenko comes ready to play as a regular NBA center)

Clippers - A young team that adds Blake Griffin from injury and Aminu from the draft.
Grizzlies - Resigned Gay.
Rockets - Yao possiblly returns to form and Patrick Patterson through the draft.
Hornets - Paul returns and add Paul George.

They did?

In the past two years the Jazz are 28-18 with Millsap starting, and 28-20 with Boozer out.

That's a 55 win pace, and easily a playoff team. Now that Okur is out expect the Jazz to lose a few extra games because of that and you are looking at a 45-50 win team as is. If the Jazz can add another big guy to the mix who can help out I think the Jazz are hovering right around 50 wins.

He had one helluva year that year. So did the Jazz: they made the playoffs FOUR times.
