One executive whose franchise was among James’ initial suitors said Wednesday morning the Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers were the only teams still being seriously considered by James. James’ representatives did little to quash the Miami speculation when they began helping search for players to help fill out the Heat’s roster.

James’ representatives spent part of Wednesday calling free agents to assess their interest in helping strengthen the Heat roster. James’ camp, sources said, went so far as to propose scenarios where the Heat would trade forward Michael Beasley(notes) to create additional salary-cap space to sign a complementary player. In those conversations, the representatives spoke only of Miami as the destination for James.

Suspicion lingered in the league whether this was a clear affirmation of James’ intent or a misdirection play designed to generate suspense for his primetime TV announcement. James will announce at 9 p.m. ET Thursday whether he will play for the Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks or New Jersey Nets.

Uh huh!

Bro, GTFO. I'm being realistic and you're in denial.

He's not coming here. So we end up with Anthony Randolph, Ronny Turiaf and Kelena Azuibuike. Plus we have like $8 million left over to help the team. I ain't gonna be too down if that happens.

But to keep believing in this pipe dream? C'mon. Wake up and smell the coffee son.

If this is a smokescreen, it's a smokescreen so that he doesn't look like a big diva. He could pretend he was thinking about Miami to justify him flying to Connecticut from Ohio so he can announce he's staying in Ohio? I mean, seriously, that's attention whoring. But if he plays it off as him having a hard time over the decision and spurning 2 great players to stay at home then he comes out looking great to his fans and his home town. It's a PR win.

So now Stephen A says we divided LBJ's camp between the Heat and Knicks? This **** is insane.

C2D why are you blaming people for having hope? We've waited two years for this so why give ip hope when his decision is on this day?

It's fine that you're pessimistic about him coming here but just because people want some hope you're going to crush it? So please do us all a favor and stfu and gtfo until lebron signs. Then you can gloat abot being right. Happy?

I went to bed dreaming of Lebron & Randolph on the roster, and now I could lose both?

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue...

Wojo on a leash?

A couple of things interesting about this latest article. First, this quote:
One former confidant said James is often indecisive, and with the announcement not scheduled until late Thursday evening it’s possible James could continue to waver.

“LeBron always waits until the last minute to make a decision,” said Chris Dennis, who used to run James’ foundation. “He always does.”

Unlike most of Wojo's recent rants, the source here is named. Accordingly, the sentiment expressed just might be true--indeed, if true, it would help explain the many, often contradictory, signals that have been going out.

However, and this connects to some other Wojo threads as well, note the very toned-down nature of the piece...and Wojo's new co-author. Wonder if it's cause and effect...and if Yahoo is making Wojo work with Spears now as a sort of punishment? :D

Doggie, this week had been too long and we have no reason to believe anything anyone says except lebron @6pm today. No reason to loose hope now. We've been thru too much as a fanbase this decade to give up now. We are knicks fans, don't give up now.

Stephen A Smith is in NYC at 10 PM, gets a phone call that James Dolan has talked to Maverick Carter, tells him that LeDouche has potential to make $2 billion dollars, officials at Nike salivating at thought of marketing him, so there are people inside his camp telling him to basically take the money...

It's fine being a realist but don't tell people to stop thinking what they are thinking. Youre telling people to give up hope in the day he finally makes his decision. Let him make his decision and you hold your view of what's going to happen and let others hold theirs. It seems to me you are blaming anyone who still believes and says they do.

I didn't tell anything to anyone. I voiced my opinion and people started saying I'm a hater, suicide hotlines, pessimist, whatever. I never insulted anyone. I've never told anyone not to believe. I just think it's pointless. I've just been real.

I think the whole Lebron to Miami is just a smokescreen. Mike and Mike made a great point of why would he take all this time to make the decision and schedule the show to announce it just to leak it out right before. Just doesn't make any sense.
